I never really got a chance to try out the PC Engine. Only played a few titles on the console of a friend of a friend. So for the time being, the Saturn is still my maligned-in-the-west console of choice.

Is this a vidya collecting thread? I'm currently in the process of buying back the game collection that I sold a couple years ago. Just grabbed a copy of Earthbound a couple days ago, so that's one of the big expensive things out of the way. Now I just need to somehow find the money to buy another copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga. I actually just fucked myself out of a sealed copy a couple days ago.

If you have the cords, you can get just the console itself for like $15 on ebay. Even then, you can usually get complete SNES with all the cords and controllers, and sometimes a few games for like $50-$60. There isn't really any reason to buy a clone console.

There are several reasons to buy a clone:

1- Better compatibility with HDTVs
2- New condition (most SNES on Ebay are useless)
3- Plays NES titles too
4- Lets you use any controller
5- They're cheaper than the NES/SNES combo

etc...

But if you have the money to buy a decent condition console, then go ahead and good luck.

I wish we had threads like this more often. I think retro gaming is at the center of otaku culture regardless of what sect you're with.

Why would that even matter? Do people actually play older consoles on HDTVs? It looks terrible. CRT is the only way to go.

That is untrue. Even the most beat up of SNES will more often than not work. Nintendium, man.

But the SNES controller is fantastic. Assuming that you're using it to play SNES games then you're probably going to want to use a SNES controller anyways.

I still have my SNES but I don't think it works anymore, so I just bought as much as I could for Gameboy Advance and DS and I'm happy with that. Upscaling 240 or 320p to HDTV or soon UHDTV looks terrible so I hope anony has an old Trinitron to get the maximum nostalgia.

Just get bsnes and call it a day.

My copy of Earthbound got here earlier today. Now I just need to wait for that SNES controller to show up. Feels kinda shitty though, since Earthbound used to only be about $80 on ebay for a long time, but of course, now that I'd like to own the game again, the price has shot up to around $170. Feels pretty terrible.

The fuckin' Japanese version of Panzer Dragoon Saga is only like $30 too. DIdn't stop me from dropping over $200 on an English copy some time back. But then I sold it to buy a 3DS, and remembering it makes me want to shoot myself. I need to find some more money to buy another copy, since it is the greatest game ever made.

I own three copies of Earthbound and I paid about $60 average for them years ago. As for Panzer Dragon, I saw a mint copy at a store like six months ago for $120. I can't wait until I move into a bigger place so I can move my 2000+ games and 150 consoles out of storage.

I really want to invest in a 64DD at some point since I made the mistake of selling mine a while back.

Trying to find a copy of Harvest Moon SNES right now without having to pay $130+. I've always loved the HM games but I never played the original. Figured now would be a good time since I finally have a SNES again.

So I was like 20 hours into Earthbound, when I got up to move some cords near my TV. My chin lightly brushed up against the top of the cart while it was on and it glitched up, and my save file was erased. And this is after it randomly glitched up and I had to turn the game off last night, even though there was no interference on my part.

Why did this happen, /jp/? I can't take it easy this way. I don't even want to play the game anymore, especially if there's a chance that my save will get erased again.
