Hey /jp/
Im at NYCC, bkub and a few other artists are here, like that guy that draws the silly Orin.

They are also doing commisions, got bkub to draw me Yuugi. Does /jp/ have any good ideas or requests for any of the artists?

Here are the sketches I ended up getting. Altogether I am really happy with them. Ended up not getting any memes because /jp/ made fun of me for it and made me feel bad for getting a good Touhou artist to draw silly /jp/ memes. I'll probably have him draw them next year though.

I only commissioned three of them, Rodney drew the Yuugi on his own accord. I asked for the bkub Yuugi, PC-98 Yuuka, and delinquent Ran. Perhaps he was taken by bkub's Yuugi and decided to try his hand at drawing his own. The commissions were only $10 though, same as sketches they previously drew.
I also had a bro moment with Rodney. I pulled out my keys and showed him a Yuugi charm I had on it to emphasize which Touhou I wanted drawn and then he pulled out his own keys and had the same kind of charm from the same doujin circle on them. His was of Sanae though.

I am especially pleased with the delinquent Ran, going to put that right next to my monitor. So thanks for the idea >>9871025 . I'll also make proper scans of them when I get home.

Also, here's a bad pic of bkub I took. He was a pretty chill dude.

Ryu Moto was an absolute bro though, his english is really good and he helped the others communicate with the con-goers. I'm not too familiar with his work but I bought his stuff anyway.

Toshio Maeda (guy who made La Blue Girl and Urotsukidoji) was also there. He and what I presumed to be his wife were extremely nice. His wife reminded me of the stereotypical friendly Japanese house-wife and she was real helpful and all smiles, which I found to be rather quaint considering he was selling signed sketches of brutal tentacle rape. Still a real cool guy. Didn't buy any of his stuff, but a few scenery and space drawings really drew my eye.

I also spied on the /co/ meet-up. They seemed like real cool dudes and not complete spergs, but I decided on not talking to them. I don't know much about comics and such while some were dressed up as superheroes. I just didn't sense a connection. Plus I am tired.

Altogether my adventure into the outside world was rather fun. I plan to go again next year, as I didn't get to bring my first PHANTOM comic which has the original Chen "Honk Honk" 4koma in it. I want him to sign that.

>>9875262
bkub was actually rather shy and didn't talk much. I guess the language barrier caused that.
I printed out the picture of the comic and gave it to him so he knew what I was talking about. It was pretty much me asking that I wanted a sketch of Ran in that style and outfit and he nodded and smiled and said ahh ok. When I came back he was using the comic as a reference for another drawing, but I don't know what. Now I'm curious to know what he was drawing. He seemed to think Yuugi was cool too, but like I said he didn't really say much.

Rodney and the translator seemed to get a kick out of me asking for a picture of PC-98 Yuuka though. I printed out a pic of her too so as to not confuse anyone. The translator was pretty much like "OOOOH, OLD-SCOORU YUUKARIN!" and Rodney "OLD SCOORU YUUKARIN? AHH PC-98!" and then they happily talked in Japanese about something. I thought it was funny that they called her Old-School Yuuka.

They were also selling Touhou buttons.
I got a button of Red-Haired Touhou 2 Marisa. It is literally the same as the one in this pic that I found on Danbooru. Wish they had the Genji one.

They only had buttons of Ichirin, Red-haired Marisa, Toyohime, Yorihime, Renko, and Maribel, which I found to be somewhat odd.
Either they are super hipsters, or secondary fans bought up all the more well-known characters and had no clue who the leftovers were. I assume it was the latter.

That's pretty sweet dude.
Here's the unedited version if you want, I just resized and adjusted the levels before posting the pics.
I'm used to resizing and editing everything I post from scanning doujinshis. I tend to half the size of everything as it eliminates small errors and dust particles or other oddities and saves space as well. Most people want normal sized pages.

Having the pic this big just bugs my photoshop OCD. It should really be at a higher DPI this big but that would exceed /jp/'s filesize limit. moot should really increase it on /jp/ for image dumps so people wouldn't have to resize everything they find on danbooru, pixiv and such.

I put them in protective sleeves for now, probably going to hang them near my computer or something. Definitely on display somewhere. I'll go again next year and get more. Having actual sketches is pretty cool. One day when I improve my Japanese, I'll take a trip to Comiket and other Japanese conventions and get some commissions from my favorite artists. That would be sweet.
And yes, like people explained, NYCC is New York Comic Con. It's a pretty huge convention and a lot of people like New York, bkub and Rodney seem to love it. I myself love New York and go every so often. There were several other Japanese artists too, I mentioned them earlier. Hopefully we will get more in the future.

And bkub has been going to NYCC for several years now, so he will probably be there next year too if you are interested. I was disappointed that there was no english comic unique to NYCC this year like previous years. It was just a poster this year, but it was still really nice. The latest Charm books too.
bkub digs a lot of western comics and such. Here is a past english comic, I think it references Phineas and Ferb.

Living the fucking dream...

if you're still there buy that shit, LBG is fucking iconic ( it's actually a pretty fun watch too I own a dvd of la blue girl returns I can't find the original series ;_; ) that hentai along with Overfiend practically made tentacle rape what it is today

Mima was next on my list if I got more commissions. I'll probably get her next year. Either her or Yumemi.
They were only $10 a commission, which I thought was incredibly cheap. Almost cheapest commissions they had at the entire convention. They also had a few sketches they made on their own, also $10 each. The Charm book and poster were both $5 each, also pretty damn cheap. Maybe they are trying to penetrate the market.

>>9892831
NYCC is over, but I debated getting a sketch from him the entire time I was there. He was a huge wheel in getting hentai to what it is today and his stuff is pretty iconic, but I just felt odd buying sketches of tentacle and demon rape. I don't really care for rape altogether, but it still has the novelty factor that he made it and even signed it himself. I felt kinda bad because near the end he was marking down all the prices for the sketches. Some were really expensive, like over $100 but they had a lot of work put into them.
I'll work up the courage to actually buy one next year.
