985360 No.985360 [Reply] [Original]

ITT Melty Blood discussions.

So i have been playing MB on and off for about 2 years now, and in the last few months i picked it up again. i also recently decided that i wanted to check out the online mode, but I'm not sure how well i would do. do you need to have mad skills for online play, or can one find a mix of players at different skill levels?

Some anons suck balls enough that you can play with a keyboard in the meltan threads, however if you aren't at least a pad user who can BnB you aren't going to win too many fights.

Possible, but it can be hard depending on where your level is. If you're either too good or too bad you'll have a hard time finding a competitive match. I haven't played much because most hosts are too far away from me and I'm really terrible, but I was able to at least take a round off a few people I fought. If I can manage that then surely you can find someone to play.

BnB's in MB are so easy you can probably do it on the keyboard without too much practice. It's more of knowing when to do certain things.

Nothing against the computer means anything. This goes for every game ever.

The only problem with keyboard play is when it ghosts 24 into 214 or the like.

No, I did not want to sweep and then try to Ex them while they're on the ground. Thanks.

>> No.985499

>>985483

Really? Well, they're not SWR easy, but a lot easier and more lenient on timing than GGXXAC and SF3 BnB's.

Like >>985442

said, Bunker Cancels are a lot harder imo. If you're serious, don't worry I'm sure you can master them with a bit of practice. They are called BnB for a reason.

The Razer Tarantula keyboard can detect inputs of up to 11 simultaneous keystrokes. However it costs a hefty $95 USD retail and I accidentally ordered two, even.

And I use a PS2 USB convertor pad anyways, so I'm pretty much a retard.

Pretty sure that if you want to play on a competitive level, a keyboard is not the way to go. Tons of shit like fast execution and TKs take a lot more effort than necessary.

>> No.985626

>>985581
Funny how I've never heard of that one crazy good tourney level person who plays using the keyboard. Oh wait there isn't one. Keyboard has a weak foundation and its harder to move around in when compared to a pad or joystick. Not to mention it's probably impossible to have all the good buttons bound on the keyboard and be able to access them easily (there are 5 needed buttons all with a necessity to be hit quickly and switch between them, shield + a as an example). Also good luck super jumping, jump canceling the super jump and dashing all in the same movement on the keyboard.

>> No.985631

>>985613

Well if you wanna get REALLY technical, stick is massively better than pad once you get past the learning curve. Maybe not for SWR and MB, I don't know. You're probably more of an expert than me for those two games. I can see no reason why a stick's layout and control scheme would not be superior to a d-pad with diamond button layout and shoulder triggers on a controller for /jp/ fightan games either.

>Also good luck super jumping, jump canceling the super jump and dashing all in the same movement on the keyboard.
Yes, thank you. You obviously never tried to use the keyboard seriously since it's no problem using it like any other input method.
I know this might be /jp/ but of course you won't find any crazy good tourney level person using the keyboard since it's all about arcade for them after all but remember that tourneys aren't only SBO

Honestly, I use a keyboard, but if I were to get either, there's no way I'd pick a pad over a stick. It's hard to do exactly what I want in MB simply because I'm using a keyboard.
>>985644
It's definitely a lot more trouble than it's worth. I was happy to be able to IAD in MB because IADs in SWR are so high off the ground they're worthless, but I have to make the effort to press 966 with an audible clack as opposed to just rolling my palm, and that's just awkward.

>> No.985665

Are you guys fucking drunk? Are you really arguing that it's faster to move a stick than to use two fingers to hit the arrows? There are issues with the keyboard, but slower input isn't one of them.

i play keyboard cause i'm too poor and lazy to finish building my stick. I do ok though, and certainly don't have any movement or button problems like people suggest. my only issues are 236 commands when i want 256, as well as some general "What? I could have sworn I was holding back/down" which you also experience on stick when you're not use to it.
