You can get stuffing from joann fabric stores. I think by default the price is around $10 per bag and you would need about 3-4. However, they put out a lot of coupons. For me, searching from my local store on their website gives me a 40% for one item coupon. Just buy your stuff on separate trips. (They also have online coupons)

It's Chinese bootleg stuff, but hell probably 90% of the stuff in your house is from China and it works just fine.

For pillow stuffing, go down to Walmart or Target and get yourself 3 cheap pillows for $5 each, cut the pillows open and put the stuffing in the dakimakura. Its cheaper than buying actual stuffing from a sewing store, and since the polyester is already shaped for a pillow, you can unfold it and get a nice shape. What I do is unfold the polyester from 2 pillows, lay them on top of each other, and work it into the dakimakura, then tear up some polyester from the 3rd pillow to fill it out.

Well, they use peachskin which I prefer to the normal dakimakura materials. Its more durable, machine wash safe, and is a nice smooth material.

I've ordered probably 20 dakimakura's from janelee (both ecrater and the ebay store) and I've only had a problem with 1 of them. The image he stole the dakimakura from wasn't a high enough resolution, so if I look really closely at it I can see a bit of pixelation , but its hardly noticeable.

Eh, its hard to judge quality at all from my crappy camera but here's a closeup of a daki from janelee. Unfortunately my camera will only take pictures in jpg so the quality is lacking. What's the point of 7.2 megapixels if you loose all the detail compressing the image . . .

What is the difference between the COSPA and A & J ones? I tend to be really tough on pillows and I don't like the cheep polyester or cotton that gets matted down really quickly.

You are talking about spending $60 for the pillow. I would strongly urge you to just buy 3 $5 pillows at walmart/target, cutting them open, and transferring the stuffing. It works out great because you get an absolute perfect fit if you do it right, with no looseness in the fit. The only issue is you have to remove the stuffing when you do the laundry, but that only takes a minute or two.

don't go for the bed bath and beyond ones. I got one of those for my first daki and the body pillows they sell are about 10cm shorter than the daki pillowcases. So i've got a slight train of extra space at where Yukari's feet should be.

All the Dakimakuras of the girl I want are lewd as HECK or poorly drawn.

one solution i was thinking of trying was stuffing the remainder with the pillow stuffing that someone in the thread posted earlier. Could be a good solution if needed. If you're in the US, you can get some cheapish pillows from united pillow (they're the first google result). Just get the 20x60 inch ones (the bed bath and beyond ones are 20x54 inch), they fit in the 150x50 cm cases, it's a little full at first, but it goes down with time, and I prefer it pomfy anyway. I have one of the $25 ones, but if I were to get another, I'd probably go with the 300 thread count ones for $4. Shipping is a bit more though, like $15. The reason I'd upgrade is that the standard shell feels a bit... iffy, but it works fine, hell it even survived a trip to London stuffed into a suitcase that it was like 3 times larger than.

The issue with that, and any pillow inside a daki cover for that matter, is you won't get a snug fit. If you remove the stuffing and place it directly inside the cover, you can get something that's a lot more substantial.

Just buy 3 cheapo pillows for $5 each, cut them open and lay out the stuffing. You can unfold the stuffing so your pillow will have the right shape. Take 2 pillows worth, lay them on top of each other, and put it inside the daki snuggly. Then take a bit of extra stuffing from the 3rd pillow to top things off. You'll have a nice snug fit for $15 worth of pillow.

I have a custom-size one from them, and I can recommend it. Add an extra inch in each dimension for your pillowcase size, and you can be sure it'll completely fill it out. I think it only cost me around $40ish shipped, so it was a much better deal than importing.

I'm going to third this. Most fillings will leave your dakimakura limp and lifeless. I got a custom-size a little bigger than 20x60 because I like my daki really poofy. It cost less than $40 for me.

I only ever hear about cheap ways to get a pillow, that doesn't require sewing pillows together, in the US. Would be great to know if there is a good shop in europe. But since there no rubber in pillowcases (hopefully) it'll smell just fine. I would use as high resolution image as possible just in case though.
