Isn't it? Demetori doesn't have much to go on in the atmosphere department, with them being all about the (delicious) riffs and all, so this song's first half really stood out and feels unique. It's really powerful. The riffs are top-notch as well, as you'd expect from early Demetori before they went full (and generic) thrash.

I can claim numerous issues with this song, the crap guitar tone comes to mind, along with the childish transitions, and the way their influences ooze and bleed through every section of the song, but you know what? All of those doesn't matter; this song just sounds so right.

In my opinion, they haven't done anything else that's quite as good as this. Okay, the Eastern Dream one and the Emotional Skyscraper one (save for the godawful intro) comes to mind, but still.

Time for the event-ly "what D&B was released this year" post. From what I can remember.

[Sound.AVE] Driven’ De:st-ructure 2 - Fang on top form as usual, some nice remixes of Fracus & Darwin tracks and a couple of guest appearances which were good. Gets Drumstep-ish in places but not for long enough to detract from the album's quality.

[Cubegrams] NOT 4 on the FLOOR - This one unfortunately was more brostep than Fang's album but the D&B on it was nice. I expected better from based on the list of contributing artists on it though.

[Curled Coil] full run - I don't know if people notice this but Doujin produced D&B all has this similar synth sound. This album doesn't have that, sounds like more western produced Liquid Funk. Very nice stuff.

[en;Dolphin Records] I LOVE THIS WORLD - Another D&B mini-album. Decent, not mind blowing.

[STRLabel] MIXIM vol.03 DnB - Excellent album, Ino track is particular excellent but the whole album is packed full of quality.

[Obscure Music Team] DECADE - Varying styles but does have the odd bit of D&B on it.

[Team Zummer] Z:2 - Same as above.

[Diverse System] Silentia - Same as above but the D&B on it is really nice. The whole album is solid anyway.

I would just like to mention 2 albums, JULIANA'S TOHO Vol.1 TECHNO RAVE PARTY and 宴 -BANQUET- Vol.2. The first album and the first half of the second album was something which I have wanted for so long but thought would never happen; Breakbeat Hardcore and Acid House Touhou arrangements. Some of the tracks on these two, particularly Techno Rave Party sound proper old school from 92. Case in point, Masayoshi Minoshima sampled T99 - Anaesthesia in his track for that album (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i19RKHwABHU, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mx3LccRvidg).). REDALiCE made a banging Acid House track on the album (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-K9FZLykDOA)) and Sumijun's track sounded like it could have been straight from a warehouse rave (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URJn-PedUO0).).

Truly this is one of the best Toho Albums I have heard in some time.

I bet egoraptor would make a nice trap if he tried.

He has silky smooth looking skin and nice fair looking hair. I bet his butt would be soft too.

I'm looking for some really good electronic, dance sort-of something. I don't really know what I'm looking for, just something catchy that will get in my head all day.

Any suggestions? I went on tokyotosho and just looked over the "music" category, but it's a little hard to make anything out.

Shibayan, has his own style, melodic and kind of progressive

Syrufit, more traditional house

Fractaleline, has this kind of "Oh god, what is going on"-feeling going on

Mohican Sandbag, Fractaleline turned up to 11

Those are the ones I've listened to, there are probably shitloads more

Shibayan's style is more of an evolution from their experience with Justice's early electro/frenchhouse hybrid. Early Shibayan songs like MyonMyonMyon and Candle Magic had very obvious tribute/inspiration from Justice's Cross album.

Is there a special genre name for the electro shit shibayan does? I can't say I've heard that exact type anywhere besides his albums and the /jp/ themesong 2.

Speaking of which, the anon who made that should make a whole album. It's at least as good as my other favorite electro songs, and I don't even like vocaloids.

>> No.9815877

>>9815765

Like I said earlier, their style is heavily inspired of Justice's unique style, which is something along the lines of Electro house/Electronic dance/French house. Justice used some unique synths and Shibayan at first tried to make songs in a similar style, but they started adding heavier distortions, vocals, and more of an electro/house/pop approach. They really evolved into their own distinct style, while Justice's second album tended more towards disco/dance/electronic rock. There really isn't a specific genre that suits Shibayan's style, but I sort of think them as the Japanese Justice.

This Justice song inspired a couple of tracks in Shibayan's early days like Kiseki Impulse and Heart Vibration albums.

Oh wow, it's like Shibayan was in Justice or something. 11.3 Candle Magic sounds A LOT like this

But yeah, Shibayan has a pretty unique style, but is there really any need to categorize it?

>> No.9818415

>>9818398
Yeah, so I can find more of it, assuming anon isn't going to make an album.

I can see the resemblance in that Justice track, but I'm not a big fan. Too much noise and not enough theme.

Mohican Sandbag is two people, 昼 & 堕悪祭怪 (Hiru and Dark Psyche). This was (re-?)released on March 7: http://t.co/kA7MPU0i

Their C81 album was rather dull imo, but I hope they haven't quit completely. 新力 - new power - was incredible.

I'm still waiting for Silver Forest to pull a Yellow Zebra. Come on, anytime now, guys... ;_;

Anyways. Just finished listening to a few Kouroumu and M3 crossfades.

Finally, a (predominantly) instrumental release from Iron Attack again, which for once I'm actually stoked for, especially after the crapfest that was Star Dust.
Those blazing riffs! Those twin arpeggio harmonies! The endless barrage of delicious shredding! That blatant and shameless Yngwie rip-off!
This is the Iron Attack that I know and longed for!

Konekodakkaiya also blew me away. I first scoffed at the idea of them doing an instrumental release, as I believed that Riryka and Mint is the core of their sound.
Hooo boy how wrong I was. Judging from the crossfade, it can get a bit generic (as one would expect from them), but all those tasty riffs and licks everywhere.
I'm not sure if I still prefer them with vocals anymore.

Try out Stress, Genesis, Planisphere and Civilization by Justice. Those are their top tracks imo, Stress and Genesis are pretty fucking amazing. It will sound less like the Shibayan you know but hey, this is the group that inspired our beloved Shibayan.
