I don't understand Yakuzas.

They are very conservative and strict, and refer as themselves as associations of gentlemen, of chivalry.

They provide loans. You pay them a fee and they "protect you". In 99% of the cases it may be like a robbery, but I guess they may help you if somebody tries to fuck with your business? (In exchange of the fee you have to pay).

Is that their goal?

>> No.9788079

BS. If you don't know jackshit of the matter please kindly shut your mouth off and stop spreading misleading bullshit.

The Japanese media can't be trusted, or rather any major media can't be trusted. Most of the time they warp the truth to the public, only the ones behind the scene would know what actually happened. If you've watched enough Japanese documentary in varied fields, you would realize that sub-culture reports are manipulated, often potrayed in a bleak and negative manner when it's not, which then turns to the society looking down on the said matter.

> In Japan, the yakuza have a reputation for being street toughs with hearts of old and men who help the weak and poor. In the past they helped the police to control street violence and intimidate terrorist groups. The bosses often require their subordinates to be polite and friendly and visit their elders on Respect for the Aged Day.

>Some say the old traditions are disappearing. Former yakuza boss Takayama told the Washington Post, the yakuza "doesn't care anymore about obligations, tradition, respect and dignity. There are no rules anymore.

These are all true as you can see and observe from today's Japan. There are numbers of good articles pertaining to yakuza, however due to the mixed informations one have gathered from different sources (mouth to mouth, rumors, stereotypes, etc.) learning which one is the truth would be quite a difficult task.

A very good unbiased portrayal of the yakuza can be found here: http://youngyakuzafromjapan.blog135.fc2.com/ . I recommend you to watch the documentary film beforehand so you would grasp it with more ease, but whichever you prefer.

The Government has the right to rule over them with weapons and so do the Crime bosses, but the average Japanese citizen is left with no means to defend himself. This is why America has guns. You get a fucking ticket if you don't have car insurance, so you pay them a monthly fee so the cop wont imprison you and make you pay a shitton of money for not having insurance. I'm sure that punishment came after lots of lobbying from those companies too.
Mafia and Yakuza are just regular insurance companies that launder their money.
You may think a regular insurance company is out to help you in case something happens, but they're not. They'll try their best to deny your claim and they'll win unless you take it to court and spend more on lawyers than you would just paying whatever it was yourself.

I wouldn't call Black Lagoon a shounen. All of it's characters are full grown adults anyway.

Best description would be an incredibly over the top, badly funded American action film that has femdom overtones. Still a really great show if you get past how ridiculous it can get. Honestly one of my favorite anime, has some real good moments.

The series is only two seasons with a few OVA. When I mean arc, I mean group of episodes. Each arc is only like 5 episodes or less, they don't drag things out. Each section just has its own plot or mission. The one I described is the last one in the show, but one of the best. I still really like the Twins arc though.
I like how the cast is rather diverse and it doesn't take place in Japan (except for the last part). Only the main character is Japanese, the rest are American or from some other country.

You should at least google it if it interests you.

Most yakuza don't even have guns and the ones who do get their hands on a gun are so inexperienced that they miss every time or the gun is so shitty that it doesn't even fire.

Escalating violence by allowing everyone to easily be armed with high quality guns does nothing but make everything much worse. It's a lot harder to do something like that than most people think. They show those examples on the discovery channel where they're cutting through objects, but they never account for the fact that people don't stand still and they would most likely be moving around during the fight so it would be hard to slash through past the bone when your target is flailing around and screaming.

People don't really walk around with anything larger than a hunting knife now though anyway. Most knife wounds aren't fatal unless they get lucky and hit an artery. That's why bullets are more dangerous, they will generally aim for your chest or stomach and a knife can only stab so far into you but a bullet can go all the way through you without much trouble and if it gets lodged inside of you then you're even more likely to die.

21 foot rule

>> No.9790886

In America, you can always find people stockpiling ammo and food, preparing for whenever shit hits the fan. They shall look after themselves. When society breaks down there shall be much rioting, raping and looting. See the aftermath of Katrina. This is because civilization, culture, universal brotherhood and all that jazz don't exist in America. There is only advanced technology made by smart people that everyone likes to shit on and call "nerds", and a collective mindset that could be colloquially described as "ain't gonna let nobody fuck over me". Sort of like Ayn Rand. They clamor for guns because they have zero trust in their own community. Also, they have more inmates than any other country on the planet.

While in Japan, where crimes are far lower, you can find people lining up for supplies after a natural disaster, instead of looting and raping others. I know where I want to be when something really bad happens.

The 21 foot rule is based upon assumptions.

1) the gun is holstered, safety on, etc
2) the gunner is not aware of the knife user's presence
3) one stab is sufficient to fell the gunner before the gunner shoots
4) the gunner is stationary, and does not run away/backpedal while drawing
5) there are no other gunners around who could interfere

These things can easily change, in or against the favor of the knife user.

Will warfare ever get back to the point where people are at least slightly close to each other during the battle?

Warfare today is like shooting at ants that are a mile away. Both groups are so far away that you can barely see them with a scope and it's impossible to see them without a scope or binocular. Most of the time you just sit behind something hard, occasionally pop out to shoot at the air, and then sit back down.

I was watching a documentary and it was showing footage with a battle between the British Army/Afghan army and the Taliban group they were fighting and either side couldn't see each other since they were both so far away. It got to the point where they actually ran out of ammo since they were just shooting randomly in the direction of where the bullets were coming from. Hell, half of the Afghan troops were just sitting behind some rubble, smoking opium, and laughing during the entire fight.

Swords can't beat guns. You can't look at 1vs1 examples because in that case a man with a frying pan could hypothetically beat someone with a gun. I don't like guns and I wish it weren't true, but it is.

The only way that someone with a sword can beat someone with a gun is if they have the element of surprise and if they're very close to them. Neither of these things matter though because battles are not fought between two people. The sword users might be able to get a few sneak attacks and kill some soldiers that are alone or asleep, but the second that the soldiers realize that they're there then they will be mowing them down like that scene from the samurai movie with Tom Cruise.

The average engagement range in warfare today can be well over 500-1000 meters. If you had a traditional army of sword users up against modern day soldiers then what could they possibly do to defeat them?

The sword users would be getting picked off before they even saw their target and the only things they could do would either be run away or blindly rush towards the direction of the shots and get slaughtered before they ever even get close to them.

Yakuza, Mafia, corporations and all governments are basically the same thing, all they want is to control, dominate and exploit the masses.
Nothing will ever change that, people with power will try to control and exploit people with no power. Warfare is just cuntries trying to get more control and power over people they cant yet control.
The only solution would be to completely change education and culture in general so when one man tries to control another he will refuse immediately and irrevocably then finally humanity can be truly free. Sadly most people like being controlled, so it will probably never happen.

Humans need control in the same way that wolves need pack leaders. Humans naturally seek out leaders in everything, you can't even put two humans together without someone eventually taking a dominant position, even if they do so unconsciously.

Now we have a world with billions of people, if there is no leader to control everyone else then it would chaos and constant fighting for dominance. It's our nature.

The only free human is an isolated human. You have to be completely alone and cut off from any contact with other humans to get to that point.

WUTS ASSAULT WEAPON?

The classification is a relatively recent construct trying to make things appear scarier than they are.

All modern firearms propel a projectile out of a barrel with enough force to kill. You don't need a second shot. A single 12ga buckshot shot centermass will kill. A single 5.56x45 center mass will kill.

All firearms are "assault weapons". Trully, a weapon's intended usage is to assault something that will cease to function/live/operate once the projectile hits it, whether that thing is a bird, wolf, human, automobile or mecha.

There is no inborn "human nature". Everything a human is will be taken from the environment and culture he/she is raised in.
A human raised and educated in a capitalistic, controlling society will be materialistic, greedy and indifferent to the suffering of others because he himself is dominated even if he doesn't realize it.
A human raised by wolfs will have more in common mentally with a wolf then with another human.
A human raised in a egalitarian, free, sharing society where crime between humans is pointless since everything is shared will inherit those same attributes.

Some like the arts, science, etc. and will follow and develop that passion.
Few are born with malformations, like retards, sociopaths etc.
Also you are underestimating the environmental effect on people, for example do you think that Lenin or Che Guevara would have been the same people if they had never read Marx ? Or Hitler would have been the same if he had never lived through the horrors of gas warfare in WW1 ? etc.

Another thing was that I once was in contact with an American catholic priest and his website where he was once a young man of 16 - 19 living in Japan as a Delinquent. The priest's father was a business man sent to japan for long term occupancy and the priest (who was only 16 at the time and not a priest) went with him. There, as a young man, the priest lived a life of sex, drugs, fighting, and a over all badass in high school. Eventually the young man, the priest as a young man, started working for the Yakuza. He eventually was exported out of Japan back to the U.S.A and his father was filled with such remorse and saddness at his son's behavior. The Yakuza were said to even be after one of the young man's fingers, because he had beat up one of the lower Yakuza bosses for trying to push him around.

After the boy came back to America he had a rough time and eventually felt so ashamed of himself and what he did. After coming back to Catholicism the boy lived for a while doing a regular job, but eventually became a priest. He now goes across America spreading the word of Christ using his life as an example of how Christ's forgiveness changes a person through redemption.
He has a book out about his life in Japan and how he converted eventually.
He is trying to get back into Japan at the risk of his life against the Yakuza to spread Catholicism, but the Japanese government have not given any permission yet.
I do not remeber what his site, name, or book name is called, so I'll have to get back to everyone on that.
