Let's turn the Final Fantasy VI characters into their counterpart Touhous. So far, I've got:

Sabin => Mokou
This one should be pretty obvious.

Edgar => Nitori
Same for this one.

Umaril => Suika
Uncontrolled physical powerhouse, Drunken physical powerhouse. Replace Green Cherry with a Shot of Sake, Bone Wrist with Wrist Chains, and Berzerker Ring with, of course, Sake Gourd.

Strago or Locke => Marisa
Strago steals magic abilities, Locke steals everything else. Marisa could fill either role. I lean a bit towards Locke, storyline-wise, since I have difficulty seeing Marisa as a wizened old grandmother.

Cid => Eirin
Magical researcher blah blah, etc.

Celes => Kaguya
Mostly because it fits the plot and relationships. Eirin is her mentor/friend. Mokou hates her guts. I'm sure if I thought about it enough I could find a way for Manipulation of Eternity to work like Rune.
Locke would also work as Nazrin, but that would effectively lock Marisa in place as the granny of whoever replaces Relm.

Another obvious one.

Mog would probably be... Kasen? Someone who would know Suika, but also has a connection to nature or the earth...

Not sure who could be Shadow. Maybe Meira? She's mysterious enough, and wasn't she supposed to be an assassin, too? That would make whoever replaces little Arrowny into Meira's daughter, though.

how about keine? she kinda goes berserk during full moon, but is also a school teacher so she'd have no problems taking care of orphans.
