I have a question Taki-chan, now that the last board I frequent on 4chan is becoming less and less enjoyable to browse, where should I go now? Do you think I should start playing an mmo, filling my time with anime, reading mass amounts of VNs? Any suggestions, I'm mostly disabled so going out isn't really an option so please consider that when answering. Thanks!

I'm in the same position as you. This is the last board I really go on, because it had a good community, and you could ask questions about things that were obscure or whatever, and people would generally be able to steer you in the right direction, without attitude.

I have a confession to make. I've been on 4chan since 2004, never with a trip. At the beginning I did so because of that bullshit essay anonymous-san wrote and the shii article. Afterwards it was just a case of not caring enough. But I've always had this secret wish of tripping, but I've always been to much of a chicken shit coward to actually do it and get caught posting something horribly embarrassing.

Don't worry. The mods and janitors here will only take disciplinary actions if they have a personal disliking for you as an individual. I can speak from experience. A few weeks ago I was banned for 2 posts I made in a thread, 1 had a picture of Reimu and the other Marisa. the reasoning for the ban was "Do not post with an avatar or attach a signature to your post" meanwhile, during the length of my ban /jp/ was flooded with shitposts and the same avataring attention whores who have run rampant here for months or even years continued to prosper. Obviously they like Taki-chan so I wouldn't worry.

I did it for a couple summers on /a/ back in 2007 and 2008 and directly caused the fiasco that lead up to the gorespamming (which wasn't me) of Bakemonogatari and put an immense amount of effort into the Lucky Star hate fest, to the point of getting moderator responses to my work.

It wasn't worth it the effort. It takes a lot of effort to create and maintain the trip identity while also ensuring the fire kept burning by proving plenty of inflammatory Anonymous replies to myself. Creating memorable pictures and edits, and copypasta-worthy text is a lot of extra effort as well.

The good part is I still see pictures and occasionally copypastas I create floating around.

I think I would have to recommend going for a zun!bar type approach for maximum trip enjoyment, that is: staying away from raw shitposting and focusing on non-harmful funposting.

The key point would be ensuring your posts do have value. Don't stray far from your real persona.

If you try and wear a mask like I did and simply shitpost (the integrity was important even here), everyone will hate you and you'll be forgotten in no time at all. If you just funpost with a trip but stay yourself, and make sure your posts have at least some value to them, you're less likely to end up hating your own trip and keeping it up. Given that I arrived around when you did and we probably both were around /b/ a bit or maybe a lot before it died forever in 2005, I hope you can learn from my mistakes and do it the right way!
