You know, I honestly agree. I think surgery is silly for transpeople, because it's having your cake and eating it too. It undermines the point of choosing a different gender if you also feel you have to have a different body.

In my ideal world, what you're saying would be the case. Obviously we'll always have biological men and women, but it would be nice if we could blur the line between the genders. Men should be able to bake cupcakes and have tea parties and like romcoms without being treated like "pussies". Women should be able to play the same sports and wear men's clothing and like Steven Seagal movies without being a "dyke". We're all living in towns and cities now, so the physiological differences (genitals, strength, food intake, etc.) rarely matter.

I know a few /jp/ers will scoff at this because /pol/ nerds and attention whores have ruined everything, but transpeople and /jp/ers largely want the same thing. You wish to be the little girl, and so do they.

See that seems silly to me. Who's to say someone can't change how they look to be happy with it? Yes, in a perfect world, no one would be treated different based on their relative masculinity or femininity (of which both are poorly defined anyway), but this ISN'T a perfect world. Social constructs may just be social constructs, but they exists and are highly ingrained. So ingrained that some people will kill someone else for not conforming. But even then, being treated as a man or woman does not change dysphoric feelings. If seeing your penish every day disgusts you or your brain is telling you that those lumps on your chest are alien growths that shouldnt be there, who you to decide that someone can't "eat their cake" because YOU think it's silly? I mean come on. Some people are comfortable in their bodies, some very much aren't, to a clinical level.

It also gets confusing because there are two factions of the trans communities. Those who believe in gender and want to fit into one or the other, creating new categories even... or those who believe in NO gender roles and want to abolish it completely. There's a lot of overlap of both these mindsets. "We should let everyone choose their gender and pronoun!" vs "Abolish all genders, you are just you!". It's a dichotomy most people don't even notice is there.
But that's totally different from people who feel in the wrong SEX. Don't get it confused. People who call themselves "genderqueer" and the like is fine, but putting transexuals in the same category often de-legitamitizes the fact that people do seriously feel out of place in their bodies, because what their brain thinks "should" be there isn't. It's like when you have an allergy, YOU know the food won't kill you, but your body sure thinks so. You can't control it.

The reason that I love Precure kigurumi is because a character can be played by a different person each time, a person who gives you the standard interpretation but also with their own twist. Any out of character moment gives you that glimpse of the human behind the performance and that is what really intrigues me about kigurumi.
