Who Shogun here?

How can I get this game for free?

>> No.9736578

I tried to play it, but my PC cannot handle it all that well. Seemed like a very amusing game though.

Thanks for the tip, Sun Tzu.

Shallow game for babies that are new to strategy. Was fun for 10 hours though.

Why can't japanese make a sengoku game like Shogun?

Paradox autist pls go

The Total War series isn't so much shallow as it is simplified so that the focus is on combat strategy not grand strategy. Certainly I prefer V2 and MEIOU, but TW has its own charm.

>> No.9736660

It's a shame the only Men of War game with Nippon in it is a complete piece of shit. I don't hold it against them for it, since they were up front about making that one specifically that way, but it'd be nice to a nip campaign in the next game for a break from the ALL RUSSIA ALL THE TIME.

Shogun fucking sucked, mondo disappointment.

You are aware that maybe one of those you've listed actually requires any thought, at all, right?

Are you trying to tell me Total War Shogun 2 requires any kind of thought? Age of Empires 2 is more complex.

That was not the one I was talking about.
Total war is about as stimulating as silly putty.

>so that the focus is on combat strategy
If only combat was actually good. Every battle goes the same way - shoot people with arrows/bullets and then mop up.
Bonus points if you have the artillery.
The ai is also woefully inept.

The focus is on graphics and looking fancy.
It succeeds at that and can be kinda enjoyable to watch people slaughtered, but the game is dull as hell otherwise.

It's called cross-board content.
Like Dota, Battlefield, TF2, Counter-Strike, Starcraft and other games.

Have fun.

I would agree about the vanilla Shogun 2. Fall of the Samurai on the other hand...

They need to make a Sengoku Basara Total War type game.

Fall of the Samurai both improved and backtracked in my opinion.
+Naval combat is actually really important now and not just an optional mini game
+Early game empire managment is more complex
+Fixed Realm Divide to less annoying
+Siege battles are more fun

-Simplified land battles to "line your infantry and popcorn spearmen and wait"
-Dumb combat AI is even dumber now. Even if you have tons of artillery the AI will adamantly advance in a straight line on walking stance, causing it to lose over half of it's troops before the leftovers are munched by the player's line infantry
-Campaign AI is also bad. I had already researched almost every area in combat policy tree while one major opponent AI was still fielding samurai and spearmen.
-Auto resolve is even shittier than before, especially for naval battles
-Late game you are drowning on emone and troops, making the second half of the game pure steamrolling assuming you already cleared one front (if you're going independent)

I liked both FotS and vanilla, but preferred the original a little more. Though both still lose to Rome and Medieval 2.

How does it compare to RUSE? I have about 300 hrs in that game. Absolutely loved it.

>> No.9737910

>>9737884
>How does it compare to RUSE?
No idea on Ruse, but Wargame is basically a Ground Control 2 on a modern engine with some additional features.

It's also pretty hardcore - your unit pool for campaigns is limited, you get to unlock more but whatever you lose - you lose till the end of campaign.
This means that if you just got your 4 (out of 8) state of the art T-80 tanks killed by the ATGM infantry from the forest - you won't be seeing them again till the end of campaign. (unless you reset obviously) But if you turned them into hardcore veterans they will be a lot more efficient by the end of campaign.

The multiplayer is also pretty fun with a lot of variation in army builds.

Shogun gets really annoying after Realm Divide. Not just because it's difficult, but the ridiculous 2000 vs 2000 battles every single turn gets old quick, and you have to win almost all of them to stand a chance. It wears you down very quick, I don't think I'll ever beat my campaign.
