My whole point is that it would be best for the children. Even if I didn't like "the other guy", I would tolerate him because A) The woman I love loves him, and B) It's best for the kids.
If someone wanted out after having kids, then I would, naturally, try to convince them to think of the kids instead of their own selfishness. Obviously, that wouldn't always work, just like it doesn't as things are now.
The foundation is a little less steady for three people who don't have children, but it could still work under the right circumstances.
