Feels pretty good not having to fuck around with system codecs, or look at ugly subtitle rendering. So does not having random lockups, and being able to play Blu-Ray discs.

Compare them yourself. Subtitles look like shit in MPC with CCCP compared to recent VLC builds because they're rendered at the resolution of the video and not the desktop. Maybe it's possible to make them look better using other subtitle filters, but again, why would I want to fuck around with it when VLC works out of the box? But by all means, keep making up excuses for your shitty media player.

Well, it is and it isn't. I mean, say it takes 500 hours for a person to learn enough Japanese to struggle through an easy VN, or 1,000 hours for a translator to translate the VN. And say a hundred people wind up reading the translation, That means that only 1,000 total man-hours were used, as opposed to 50,000 for them all to learn individually. Even if we factor in a translation decay of about 50% (signifying that their experience is reduced to about 50% of the experience of someone reading with a good knowledge of the original language, ignoring for the moment the absurdity of a person getting to that level in a mere 500 hours) it's still more efficient to wait for the translation, by a factor of 25:1. And I have a feeling more than 100 people download most translations.

I am who I am, I don't give a shit if some other retard has to spend 500 hours learning to read jap for a VN, because he means nothing to me, its stupid to try and look at things from some sort of societal point of view anyway, because its not like any of you were going to do something meaningful with your time. If anything, you make yourself better and more presentable by learning a foreign language than spending 500 hours jacking off to cartoons in your mothers basement. Maybe when you go into a job interview for your first mcjob (as if you ever would stop being a neet), you can put down on your resume that you know japanese and whoever is hiring will be impressed because everybody thinks its a difficult language and its always better to have more second language diversity in the customer service industry, so they will think about hiring you over some braindead high school kid who knows the same language as everybody else does, Spanish.

Machine translations is good for some complex words, but some games are fuck annoying for machine translations. Imagine japs using english machine translations: "what" will be translated 何, but whaaat?whhat? will probably come out as giberish, and considering how much words tail off for verbal effect and colloquialism in games, learning some basic japanese including listening make reading VNs quite easy, right now i don't ever wait on translations, pretty much read whatever the fuck i want, and cruise at auto-mode speed for most VNs with very good accuracy and understanding. Well worth the small investment, last you forever derp. translations is a thankless job and no one in the fucking mind will dedicate time properly without incentive, so enjoy your wait.

Eiyuu Senki, I thought it was dropped due to legal issues, so that's a bit iffy.

Littlewitch Romanesque looks interesting, and those speech bubbles look like they would be a considerable obstacle for a translation. Although I think Quartett handled it fine...

Euphoria is by Clock Up right? Mangagamer is dealing with them now, so I'd prefer not to.

Bad analogy, because as someone once said, "Don't overestimate the saneness of those who buy Apple products."

There are multiple ways to translate something, and each of those ways has their supporters. Some may want more literal, some may want less literal, some want it NOW and don't care about accuracy too much, some want to wait (almost) forever for a "good" translation. Unless all translators are doing exactly the same thing there is a wide multidimensional spectrum of capabilities and corresponding consumers.

GothDeri made incredible use of the KrKr engine a few years back. It supposedly had a translation project going but the guys working on it just wanted an excuse to get out from it, and then the entire wiki was shut down closing all projects. http://tlwiki.org/index.php?title=Tools
It really is a shame that it was never completed because it isn't all too text-heavy, has some fun characters packed with shadowrun-esque magic and it's a really cool little fast paced action novel.

Of course, if that doesn't float your boat then there is always things much simpler, like say Cara the Bloodlord.
http://vndb.org/v10249
It's not all that fancy but it's a nukige title and as with most Lilith stuff has good voice acting, and this one in particular has animated ero-scenes. But most of all, this title packed with erotic content and has multiple characters, but is _incredibly text-light_. Which may be worthy of note for a translator.

Of course, if you were to be interested in a nukige title and don't so much care about it being notably text-light, there is always Saimin Reido.
http://vndb.org/v1601
The sheer number of fetishes it caters to is simply incredible, and among other things it is also among the best the mind control genre has to offer.

But by all means, do whatever you want. Working on something you don't enjoy is bound to be a failure. Or in most cases at the very least. Cara the Bloodlord really is text-light. Check the titles out in either case.
