Finished Anzu and Coco routes in Hatsukoi.

Anzu's route exceeded my expectations. Such delicious drama. One thing that confused me, though. Are Minoru and Anzu blood-related or not? Unless I missed something, it's never explicitly stated, though it doesn't make much sense for them to be more than half-siblings given the age difference. But if they're not blood-related, it kind of takes away from the impact of the drama in her route. In any case, it was a pretty fun route.

Coco's route was less impressive, but still cute enough. Her first H-scene seemed sudden and out of character, though, which irked me a bit.

Now I'm trying to decide whether to finish the other routes now, or come back to them later and read Owaru Sekai next.

Looking forward to: Ave Maria, Root Double PC, and Dies Irae and Rakuen arriving in the mail next week.

Really looking forward to Dies Irae. Though I typically prefer realism and deep character design over superpowers and fantasy, the dialogue in that game is so awesome that it's empowering. I feel awesome whenever I play it. On that note, while I wait for it in the mail I'm finishing up Marie's route after I get done with Swan Song.

Swan Song has really surprised me on a lot of levels and I'm enjoying it way more than I thought I would. The writing and dialogue is top notch, but also the way that the writer conveyed the progressive decay of the makeshit societies and the ideologies of both of the main groups was really interesting to read. Takuma's changes were pretty cool too. I like that, unlike Sayonara wo Oshiete, the society the characters live in assertively support the madness that ensues. Getting the first person narrative on that has been really, vivid.

Actually I was mistaken about Koujaku; it's Hiroki Takahashi playing him (under his Yasuhiro Okuno alias). But the rest of the main cast is like that. Rui Kagami (Aoba), Rinta Hayakawa (Mink) and Tsuyoshi Nanba (Akushima) appear to have debuted with this game, and Noize, Clear, Ren, and Toei's seiyuu all have only one or two other roles to their credit, mostly in recent games like JOKER and the Okiba ga Nai! fandisc.

The seiyuu who play the three kids are very prolific, and the ones for Virus, Mizuki and Tori are up there as well, but the main cast would seem to be mostly newcomers.

There's always the possibility that these are just new brand-new aliases for already established seiyuu and nobody's made the connection to who they really are yet, of course.

Finished all the new stuff in Amantes Amantes.
The new ending in Rea's route is awesome, the 3 way battle was just badass.
Also it felt more like a Makki/Shirou ending than anything for some reason
They also added a new scene in the normal ending which was also quite nice with a pretty great CG, pic related.

Marie's after was also a very nice supplement it happens more than 50 years after her ending and show the reincarnation of most of the cast, it was nice seeing the utopia that was so often described in KKK though when you know what happen next it does feel a bit creepy, fuck Hajun.

All kinds of many different stories that are all visual novels. The only thing they all have in common is that they're computer programs and that they tell a written story.

Finished Yayoi and Marika. I liked the drama in Yayoi's route (mainly because I had the option to ditch her for camera girl), Marika bored me to tears. And all of it reads like shit, I seriously hate the style of age's writer(s). Yet another protag who just can't shut up in his head and characters who communicate by exchanging speeches that go on forever. Those fucking speeches, people don't talk like that holy shit.

Yeah, the game was written by pretty much the worst writer age has used between all of their games. Though he's worked on both of age's notable titles as a cowriter, any of the things he's written by himself/as main writer turn out mediocre at best.
Only really liked Marika's and the new character routes myself, but in retrospect Marika's was probably more because I had forced myself through her route in the original game, and was much relieve to see my main complaints with that changed in the remake.

I've finished Grisaia (Kajitsu). That was a good way to spend my August.

I went in a Makina-Amane-Yumiko-Michiru-Sachi order, and it worked out well. People in previous threads mentioned that Yumiko didn't work too well as a last route; I think I would have been okay finishing with her good end, but Sachi's worked just fine.

It was excellent overall, but there sure was a jarring dip in Michiru's route. She's great, and the story itself is good, but Yuuji is completely passive for no reason whatsoever. Compared to other routes (especially Makina's and Sachi's) where he actively works to build up the heroine into someone capable of overcoming her problems, he basically does nothing for Michiru as she suffers. (Though I do admit his burial plan at the climax was excellent.) Worse still is that he's never shown as developing any real feelings for her. When he asks himself at the end why he helped her, he has no idea and literally says that it might have just been a whim. That's pretty harsh.

I often found Amane irritating outside of her route, but inside her own route she is such a good woman. Her bad end is incredible.

The greatness of Makina's route is self-evident. It's a long and satisfying ride with a rich story that does a great job of developing a unique relationship between the characters.

In general: Michiru>Sachi/Yumiko>Makina>Amane

I have more thoughts, but I'd rather not make a second post. I'll just say that this is a well-written game that I enjoyed very much. Gundam references are always a plus, too.

I've been playing this (done with Ginko, Iroha and Shouko routes plus some of the sub-routes) and honestly... I don't know, I feel like the game could benefit from being more focused. Lots of hanging around in the same parts of the village and the environment descriptions in the text aren't really that interesting most of the time. For the rest of August I did read Fortune Arterial and yeah it's not even close to the same level.
Though to be fair I thought that the common part and one route in particular the ghoul, can't remember her name weren't too bad.

Well I haven't played any other August game except for Eustia but it feels like they took the Eustia characters and put them in a non-grim setting.

Like everyone else said the banters are great. The characters aren't childish, they are constantly reading social cues and are pretty sly and cunning. Like when asked for help the characters won't agree immediately but instead will ask what's in it for them.

Even the high school setting isn't really a high school setting at all and feels more like a university. They take class in a lecture hall (750 students per class) and besides for a few mandatory courses, everyone has different course/schedules. For example the protagonist takes Introduction to Library Science.

I'm not sure if there's going to be big twist or something but it's possible seeing as they already have cgs like this in the trial.
