Post your IP if you are hosting followed by world location (with continent and area is ok, I.E Western europe) and your own tier if you feel like to.

About the game:

(shamelessly copied from the wiki)

Touhou Hisoutensoku is the third fighting game in the Touhou Project and like its predecessors, Immaterial and Missing Power and Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, Touhou Hisoutensoku is a collaboration between ZUN and Twilight Frontier. Due to that collaboration, its art was drawn by Alphes and the music was composed by U2 Akiyama, both from Twilight Frontier.

Download link:

Hisoutensoku + 1.10 patch + english patch:

http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6424899/Touhou_Hisoutensoku_12.3___1.10___English_Patch

For playing online it's recommended to have the latest version, 1.10a which you can find the patches for here:

http://hisouten.koumakan.jp/

SWR + English patch:

http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6512402/Touhou_10.5_Scarlet_Weather_Rhapsody___ENG

Optionally there is also a Voice mod found here:

http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Voice_Mod_for_SWR_and_Hisoutensoku

Before playing online please close any process that uses bandwith to avoid lag, also try to play with people close to your area if possible.

Also vote on this if you want.

I played it online with others just a few times so obviously I'm not very good at it.
And I only played Reimu before so with other characters I was pretty much just mashing random buttons.

I don't really see what you mean here, but some moves have quite wacky hitboxes, I guess it's mostly about experience.

Her 5card requires a lot more skill with the character than others, you can't just hitconfirm into it and get guaranteed loads of damage.

Other examples are Hong's 4card where she counterhits everything, and Reisen's 3card where she gains a clone for about 8 seconds.

Well. That's just sad. I can blame a little of it on the delay (8-9 frames, completely unable to deal with your crossup when I know it's coming). But most of it is just me being bad.

I constantly misjudged your range as shorter than it was and my range as longer, which is quite a feat since we were playing the same character. Kept getting caught by the same things, and kept doing the same things so you wouldn't get caught. Frequently forgetting to guard, kept botching my corner pressure. Fumbling inputs too (I only used 2C on purpse like twice that entire match). Flying into spellcards, forgetting my spellcards exist.

A bit in my defense I can say I've never fought much Iku, but that's a shitty defense.

Man that was depressing. GG though, surprised you didn't get bored earlier.

sorry for the delay ;_; I never chose to be born here.

while we were playing I wrote some memos here to warn you after our battles. I am not a very good player, I have countless flaws, some habits and procedures should not be followed in my gameplay. however, as a fellow iku user brother I can share you some advices! I don't know if you are comfortable with it, so sorry if you find this offensive.
be careful about the 6c spam. we ended up spamming this a bit, but let's be more careful from now on. sometimes you were waking up and using 6c right away. you can try zoning or long-range poking with different things, I guess.
maybe your deck has too many spellcards? it's up to you to decide, but for example, I wouldn't use that cost 4 spellcard (not the one that makes her grazeable, because this one is useful), the cost 3 can be okay as a reversal but its startup is slow, so it's not very good. try having more skills you are comfortable with, or if not, some people say that aya fan are good for ikus.
2a is a useful move for her, so I would suggest using it more. however, I wouldn't be so sure about the 2c. I think it's too dangerous.
be more creative on your blockstrings or gameplay in general! I think that a big problem for the slow characters is that they are more prone to being repetitive and predictable. my iku is predictable to more experienced players, so you should work on it on yours too!
okay maybe I'm typing too much, I need to sleep now. good luck!

Yeah I switched my deck around when I was a lot more in practice and I was actually making use of more of them, but I stopped playing for a few months and I can't use it anymore. I never knew a lot of combos but I was better and a bit less predictable. A bit.

I didn't find you too unpredictable but I was so bad it didn't matter. I kept starting something or jumping when I should have known it was going to get me hit. And then I got smacked for being retarded.

Yeah my lack of creativity/predictability is probably my biggest flaw. Part of it comes from being so out of practice (not that I was ever very good), I can't combo and fumble inputs.

The deck I will work on, I've noticed in the last few months as I've been trying to get myself back in to playing that I haven't been touching half my deck. That, at least, I can do something about now.

I'll keep 2 or 3 of the 3 card reversal around because I find (or found, since I've been constantly forgetting to use them) it to be incredibly useful against some melee specials and spellcards due the the invulnerability frames during the startup. Of course that requires timing which I no longer have.

>>9634680
Yeah good games.

Just a bit of advice, no offense. I noticed you weren't blocking or high jump canceling out of your moves very much. When you used her laser I could fly right up to you above the laser and smack you, and I got you with a bunch of 6Cs that shouldn't have hit.

I guess this wasn't very fun to you, sorry again for the delay hehe.
you seem to get sad when beaten up or losing to someone who used your main too. don't be like this! take it easy!
I know it's easy to talk, but look. you should remain calm. because that way you have a less chance of letting your feelings intervene in the middle of a match, which can be bad. we aren't able to play with rage, dashing towards our opponents and mashing. so we have to make it up on thinking and patience. therefore, being calm and taking it easy could help you in future matches. if you feel like your ego has been hurt now, you can direct those feelings to some time in practice. I would suggest you to practice some basic bnbs and think about what you could learn from experience, even through losses.

>Location? What's the point?
Delay generally correlates with distance, so it's an easy way to see if it's even worth trying.

>Connection quality would be more important.
Only true to some extent. Of course any delay caused by a poor connection is added on top, but no matter what sort of connection you have, don't expect to be able to play with someone from Australia if you live in Europe. Still, it's possible for someone in Europe to play with someone in the US just fine if both have good connections, but that's quite rare.

>Not to mention I have at least 100 times their upload bandwidth.
Irrelevant, this game uses very little of your upload bandwidth, aroud 1-2 kilobytes per second even with spectators I think. Whether you have 1 or 100mbit it means nothing, except with 100mbit you can have more traffic in the background.

>What kind of pings are good / minimum acceptable for this game? 16ms / 50ms?
I'd go with 40ms / 80ms, the netcode is quite poor.

Well those were mostly good games. It's 9am here. You were better and could choose more characters, so every time it looked like I was starting to learn to deal with it you would switch. That was fine and I'm used to dealing with it (or not, because I'm bad, but that's my problem).

You clearly taunted/teabagged/strutted/whatever you want to call it, that wasn't fine, but it was just a minor annoyance. It would probably stop me from playing you again just because of the poor sportsmanship.

And then you used Iku's 5card glitch. Since you only used it once it may have been an accident, but if you had used it again I would have quit then and there. If you did that on purpose, and because of the setup for it I find it hard to believe (but possible, it was only once) it was an accident, that is unforgivable.

The reason for not using it is that it's a glitch, it resets proration which is not supposed to happen

Having 5 cards is in no way a rare scenario and landing that card is one of the easiest things in this game and that scenario shown in the video is far from the only scenario where you can abuse this glitch, if you can land it, you can glitch it as long as it doesn't limit before you can do the grab

GG. With how many people here that play Meiling I should still be having so much trouble with her. She just seems too fast and has too many safe options, which probably means I just don't know how to react to them. I need to ask #hisouten or someone how to deal with her air moves. As far as I can tell they have no startup time, no recovery time, hit her entire surrounding area with strong melee attack and knockback heavily. At least one of those has to be false, but I can't figure out which one and it gets me every time. Her homing bullets also get me a lot, though that's partly an Iku issue since her recovery times after bullets are so massive, so I keep giving you easy opportunities.

I can't even tell her low and high guard crushes apart, which I should at least be able to do.

Also you'd think I'd have learned to stop trying to stab your bullets, but it seems that kind of pattern recognition is beyond me.

You need to abuse Iku's j.6C a more from what I saw. But I only spectated one or two matches, so who knows. Plenty of scrubs underestimate how fast it comes out and manage to get smacked by it.

>> No.9641780

>>9641767
Yeah I know I'm misjudging Meiling terribly. Since I have no better option I should even just be chicken blocking so I don't get kicked around in the corner as much, but I keep thinking she's not close enough to hit me. I think it's her j.6a that has almost as much range as my j.2a without the huge blindspots and is much faster.

I also keep using j.2a when I should know that she's going to be safe in the blindspot by the time it takes effect. Just really sloppy and predictable on my part.

>> No.9641790

Yeah playing a bit in practice it seems the culprit was more her general movement speed advantage over Iku, which is enormous, rather than the range on it, which is still decent. And compared to Iku's air options, which have a collection of funny hitboxes, blindspots, and startup times, it's fast and annoyingly straightforward.

Again it's just that I don't know how to deal with it with Iku yet, and I'm sort of frustrated because a lot of people here play Meiling so I should have at least stumbled upon a workable solution by now.

When I played Okuu, a rather long time ago, none of this gave me any trouble because Okuu had nice straightforward ways of dealing with this, both in air and when Meiling is coming at me from a few feet off the ground.

Yessir. Typically, fighters with airdashes and fast gameplay(or slow in the case of BB) are considered anime fighters. Fighters like SF, KoF, SamSho, and The Last Blade are not considered to be anime fighters. However, stuff like Arcana Heart, Melty Blood, Guilty Gear, and Persona 4 Arena are anime fighters.

Being good at Guilty Gear will make you decent at other fighters by default if you stick with it for long enough.

That and I keep being retarded and never seize the advantage on the rare occasions I trap someone in the corner, can't even get myself to do the 5C loop reliably without HJC for no damn reason.

I seem to be botching the one "new" combo I can mostly get right, most of the time. Seems to either limit early (which is okay, I guess) or the last j.6a whiffs and it doesn't even limit. Seems I need a lot more work there.

Official #IaMP tourneyfag here, the best way to improve besides training mode and playing other people is by studying superplays of your character. Study them greatly and shamelessly copy their playstyle. Look up some Iku vs Meiling replays, for instance. See why Iku does the attacks when she does them and try to incorporate it into your own game.

It will also help if you get down your combos to at least a 80% rate. You would be surprised how much learning basic movement and combos actually helps you. Learn mindgames and option selects later when you feel ready.
