Also, the strokes for KI and SA are wrong. KI should have 4 strokes... basically, just break that third stroke in half just after it passes through the first two, and draw the 4th stroke under it. Same for SA.

It's taken me three days to learn *just* the vowels, and I can draw them but not remember which is which.

That level of grammatical error isn't even worth noting. You don't need academic level proficiency in a langauge unless you're an academic or in a career which requires it. Just because you put a lot of attention into it doesn't mean every else will, needs to, or should.

Frankly, it's a waste of time. Unless you've got a reason to learn every exception and rule then once you've reached an adequate level of understanding then it's perfectly fine to move onto better and more important things. Not every individual desires to shit literature or teach English.

Download one of the free hiragana decks that are available

Set your deck to do 10 or 20 or something new cards a day. Make sure you write them out when you're studying

In a few days you should have them pretty well memorized

try remembering the kana. its recommended by quite a few notable places, and is also written by the guy who wrote remembering the kanji (which is a great way to learn the kanji)

Well, I learned the Hiragana and then used those to learn Katakana. All it took was a lot of repetition with homemade flash cards. I reviewed them every free moment I had and it took me about 3 days ((considering I was at a debate tourney for 2 of them, it was a pretty manageable feat.)) After that, I made cards for the Katakana and did matching games with the Hiragana, which I already knew by that time. It took me a day and a half to master Katakana.

When you get to Kanji...well, I'm fucked there, let me know if you figure anything out.

i've been learning kanji by extracting them from newspaper articles, and then rereading it once i have a glossary of all the kanji on it.

is this inefficient? i can't stand doing reps.
