I hated Edy. She didn't play nicely with any other shocktroopers I used. Didn't really have any good perks either.

Jane would just rape nerds.

This game has some of my favorite character designs. I really dig how the uniforms look.

Also Jane is easily the best Valkyria Chronicle.

The game is so much fun...I like it alot. The class system seems to be a bit worse than 2 though. However, the setting and characters are great.

Makes me glad I learned the language, just so I could play video games that don't get US releases.

Now if only they actually had voice acting in the FFTactics War of the Lions Japanese release, I would be very happy.

Well basically if you want to unlock all of the potentials....you need to in theory level up a character in every single class (up to level 3) and do *something* to unlock the ability.

For example, there's an ability, that gives you bonuses to attacking while crouched (unlocked by being a level 1 shocktrooper and shooting at enemies while crouched or so. There's a degree of randomness to it).

Now then, to get the best abilities/potentials, you need to use the "master table" so for example, by unlocking the shocktrooper elite and basic scout abilities, you can get one that makes all of your shots count as crits (i.e. headshots), no matter where they hit the enemy.

It can get grindy fairly quickly...and complicated...

As bizarre as it may seem, I haven't played VC 1 or 2...just 3. However, there are a bunch of characters from the first two games that make cameos, including Guenther and co.

About to start VC2 based on Zunbars recommendation. I might replay VC for the first time in four years as well. Reason I have been holding off on VC2 is because I heard they dumbed down the gameplay quite a bit but apparently that is not the case.

The whole idea of not-ww2 in VC always made me laugh, just because of the lack of scale behind it.

I loved this game until I came along a few Youtube videos of speedrunning. Afterwards, I could no longer enjoy the tactical aspects, as I was always on the edge, trying to complete each chapter as quickly as possible. So, don't do that shit. Play it as you like.

you're crazy, the "grind" in VC3 consisted in basically having different characters fill out the same roles, so it actually didn't feel much like a grind at all since you still need, say 3-5 scouts per level and it just changes the model you're using.
in VC2 every character had just his class and you were forced to grind materials with the same class for hours, making it impossible to promote as you go in maps where his class wasn't required or counterproductive and forcing you to play free maps over and over.

Yeah, that is one of the biggest problems with the game. There are a lot of exploits and it's possible to finish what is arguably the toughest mission in the game in just two or three turns.

Yeah. Chapter 11 or 12 has a one turn limit for rank A. In numbers, that's 1 (one) turn. You start out with what, 12 command points? The road from your own base to the enemy base requires two full command points to cover with a scout, so probably at least four CP trying to get anything else across. Also, a sniper and a anti-tank battery is placed in the enemy base. Those are again a few command points to kill before you can capture the base. Don't forget that medium tank that sits on the street.

That being said, I don't think this map can be done in one turn unless one rushes with scouts. Horrible design, either rush two or more scouts in every single mission, or grind your ass off in the skirmishes to make up for the missed experience.

I'm playing this game for the first time and I'm loving it so far. I'm on chapter 13 at the moment. Only gripe I have with the game is destroying enemy tanks. If you can't get around them it takes like 3-5 shot with the Edelweiss or with a Lancer. And both of those have abysmal accuracy if you aren't literally one meter away. So much fun using 2CP just to miss from ten meters away or so.

Edy is fucking hot tho. As is Isara. And Selvaria.

The first Edy detachment only came with the Edy mission. the second Edy detachment was the skirmish missions. Separate DLC's.
I bought the expert mode, but I haven't gotten around to trying them out yet.
