Mine is Ever17. It's been over 4 years now since I first read it, but I still find it to be the best story I have ever read, seen or played. The only thing that comes close is the generally much less well-received Remember11, of which I love the elements most people hate (such as the troll endings and the lack of direction explanation of the mystery).

Maiden Rape Assault:Violent Semen Inferno.

I have no idea why this is labeled as a nukige, as it is one of the most gloriously written, heartfelt tales of romance and heartbreak I have ever read. It also raises many existential conflicts we as humans face regarding the choices we make and how they affect those close to us. The ero scenes were pretty good too, but the story outclasses what little ero this game has.

This is without a doubt the best English translated vn out there, and I always heartily recommend it to both those familiar with the genre as well as newcomers.

10/10 translated vn of the year, all years.

They have to react consistently and somewhat reasonably, I guess? I'm not quite sure why, but the characters in KS just didn't feel realistic to me. Maybe because the game was so focused on drama that it left out all the little details that make a character feel realistic.

Not OP, just genuinely frustrated. I came here in 2008 to discuss translated VNs with people who have played more than just entry-level stuff. Since then, VN discussion has been decreasing all the time and eventually got condensed into only the VNTS thread and VN General. But VNTS is just the same 'I can't wait for X' and 'Y is making good progress this week' over and over again, with only some occasional discussion, and VN General only "discusses" (separate posts with no interaction) untranslated stuff. Now even the janitors are starting to delete what little VN discussion there is outside of those two threads. I just want to discuss VNs again like I used to.

And don't tell me to go to /vg/, you know how terrible their VN discussion is.

No it hasn't. The only VN 'discussion' back in the day, were continuous Rance threads, Umineko threads, FSN threads, etc. Nobody actually talked about anything else really. I tried to make numerous VN general threads back then, and they would just fall off the board, because there wasn't much interest. Now /jp/ is much better at discussing VNs.
