My parents wanted to buy it for me, but I had played it before and it didn't work.

To really get a grasp of a country's language you have to immerse your self in it by living there for a while.

It's great, I definitely recommend it.
It's a little bit too strict with kanji stroke orders though, and make sure your ds has a properly working touch screen.
