I was gonna watch K-on! since the characters looked cute, but I read the summary and it looks like another Azumanga Daioh/Lucky Star/etc.-clone. Is there any plot to it?

Lol epic picture man, really made me laugh. I love it because Azusa is a cute character but in that pic she is smoking drugs and that is out of character.

Keep up the good work.

Yeah, it started off pretty average, but the characters just got better and better the longer it went on. Especially Chitanda seems to get more powerful with every episode.

>> No.9543126

K-ON! is great but it doesn't belong here. You can't fool anyone by making this about trains

>> No.9543144

Hyouka is amazing.

Mayaka is love, Chitanda is cuter than she has any right to be, and Irisu turned out to be actually an interesting character instead of a generic archetype I thought her to be.

Satoshi is a bro, and while Oreki might be a boring fuck, the fact that he actually gets honest to god character development is amazing.

It still has issues(and they're EXTREMELY evident on repeated viewing) such as the extremely bad mysteries and the pacing surrounding their presentation, but it's still great.

Too bad it sells like shit, if you factor in the fact that it's a high budget show from KyoAni.

Well, not Nichijou-tier shit, but still.

Can't wait for the movie announcement.

Does seem like they're putting off book 5 for a movie.

Not that I have a problem with it.

>> No.9543167

>>9543144
I don't think the mysteries were that bad honestly

Sure they weren't amazing but I think it's unfair to call them "extremely bad"

How come it's selling so horribly anyway?

>> No.9543169

>>9543153
I know, right?

Can't blame them after how Disappearance and K-ON movies sold, they gotta recoup their losses somehow.

>> No.9543177

So I'm lazy and I know I'm not the only railfan here:

What model train is this? I don't recognize it. I take it they just outfitted an old one?

>> No.9543181

>>9543061
It was pretty much just an average show but damm once Akiha-sama started appearing and trampled all over the MC dick, it instantly became a great show.
Nothing else from spring season even come close.

>> No.9543208

>>9543144

>Too bad it sells like shit

In the beginning yes,now no

>> No.9543207

>>9543167
For a show that TALKS about mysteries so much, you'd expect them to actually be conducted properly, but no.

Also, either everyone but Oreki is clinically retarded(and he ain't so hot either)or my standards are hugely skewed.

In the end, the non-mysteries - the one that Oreki made up and the whole tricking him into writing one meta stuff was much more enjoyable.

As for why it's selling bad - I blame the lack of re-watch value. After watching it once, there's just nothing there to keep you interested in the mystery investigation/theory parts, and since the pacing is sometimes quite poor, they take up way too much time.

KyoAni did try to take couple tricks from SHAFT's book, but they don't have Shinbo, so they can't really just make people talking about boring stuff a thing that's interesting to watch over and over again.

It did improve massively in that aspect since the school festival started, so here's hoping it picks up.

>> No.9543223

>>9543207
Not much of a defense, but they are high school students after all. The kids in my high school were far more retarded than the characters in Hyouka.

>> No.9543216

>>9543208
Both volumes sold virtually the same, and past first week sales weren't that impressive - for a show with quite that high budget, you bet yer ass they're bleeding money on it.

>> No.9543218

>sold like shit
What?
It is best selling show for season.
It is into 5figures now. kyoani sure set themselves high standard if it sold like shit.

>> No.9543229

Well, I did go to a good high school with a bunch of people that were smarter than me(and being considered smart is the only thing I had going for me as kid/teenager), so maybe I'm skewed - but for me the only thing they're good at are the fact that they're ridiculously well-read.

The problem is Oreki is presented as some kind of genius amongst his peers, where not only are his deductions not particularly impressive, they also sometimes ignore details and alternate explanations, even when they exist and should be at least considered.

Now, this is addressed by the show itself, and that was probably the strongest moment so far - but by showing that Oreki is flawed and not actually all that special, again, you reinforce the notion that all the other characters are all so much worse.

>> No.9543662

How can you compare this disaster named Hyouka to K-ON? Jesus christ, it's full of males and flirting.

And Satoshi is flamboyantly gay.
