Soundtracks of all stripes and sizes, mostly, and pretty much only soundtracks. It's a bit bizarre, actually; music from OSTs seem to have a certain quality to them that I really like no matter what genre they are. EDM, ambient and ambient subgenres, rock, reggae, classical, everything - I like soundtracks consisting of all of those.

Lately I've been listening to the Metroid Prime OSTs, though. Especially 1 and 2. Holy fuck they're incredible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFGvDMfdH1o

Also, if anyone has any fucking idea what genre these would be classified as and where I can find more tracks like them I'd be much obliged; I've asked everywhere and done a ton of research and yet nobody I talk to can pin down a genre or direct me towards anything that sounds even remotely like these OSTs.

You can't really go wrong with OSTs because they have so much to offer. There are usually a lot of different genres in just one OST so even if you're really picky, there might be at least one piece you'll enjoy. And if someone enjoys various genres like you do, even better, right?

I know what you're talking about when you say that "certain quality" which OSTs have. But I know of no way to definitively categorize them into certain genres. But if you're just talking about Metroid, I'd say ambient electronic music with a "sci-fi" touch.

I saw yours before posting mine, but I didn't know if you were still in the thread or not. I was going to recommend the Rome album in mine based on the Death in June and the general amount of industrial and industrial derivatives.

This is my favorite band right now, called Toe. They're a Japanese instrumental band. Mostly I listen to post rock like Built to Spill or Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, and I think the mathrock scene is kind of lame, but these guys blend both genres perfectly. Relaxes me like nothing else. Gotta love those damn Japs.

Would anyone be interested in doing a /jp/ mumuplayer?

This is the full album, so if you enjoyed it through you should look into more artists and other similar genres.

And bookmarked for tomorrow. Thanks bro, I'd listen to the album tonight, if, ya know, wasn't about to lose my damned job soon. Seems I always come back to /jp/ when shit goes down to get to enjoy some real internet scenarios.

job hunting in America. going to be a wonderful fucking day.

I don't really have a set favorite, I like any music which is able to resonate within me. If I had to choose then I guess I'd say I'm especially fond of most of the electronic genres, jazz and just about anything from the 80s.

>> No.9511732

Weeaboo music from anime and VNs, as well as Touhou music and remixes and such. They bring pleasant memories. Favorite band is probably Denkare.

Just dive into the world of psytrance, there's much better stuff out there than infected mushroom. Like....millions of songs worth over decades
