I never saw the point in them at all unless somebody important was going to be there (Not Christina Vee either somebody who affects the industry or a popular singer in the subculture)

Since conventions are always happening somewhere in the world, and /a/, /cgl/ and even /jp/ like to create drama about them, why doesn't moot add a permanent /con/ board? Adding it for a week every Otakon or whatever just feels pointless.

Because it's not really a problem. /jp/ gets around three AX threads, three Otakon threads, and three random conventions-nobody-cares-about threads in a year. We get more spam threads than that in five hours. /cgl/ actually enjoys discussing cons and it's on-topic there. I don't know if /a/ throws a shitfit, but, you can't expect anything from them.
