Progress! I wish there was an easy way to practice against Satori's final spell card; it's so fucking fast that I can never tell whether or not I'm about to get hit. Also, I'm not sure if Satori sets up a barrier or what, but bombs don't do SHIT against her last three spell cards.

This was my first time on Stage 5 on Hard mode; I died immediately at the beginning of it during the run in which I unlocked practice for Stage 4, so that didn't really count. I'm honestly quite surprised that I managed to make it to the end of the stage, AND that I managed to last for so long against Orin.

I might be able to 1cc this by the end of the week. That's frightening.

I've bookmarked that page, but I'm hesitant about watching that replay until I've beaten SA myself. From the way you describe it, it sounds like you've managed to cheese through the game, and if I watch that, then I'm forced to either cheese my way through as well or consciously stop myself from going about things the easy way.

Input delay isn't a deliberate mechanic in Touhou. It's like if you're handing a baseball player a bat that has its handle wrapped in barbed wire, saying that finding the ONE way to hold and swing the bat without slicing the fuck out of your hand is just part of the challenge of baseball. No, it's not. The challenge is to hit the ball, and the challenge of Touhou is to dodge the bullets. There's a reason ZUN endeavored to lessen the input delay as much as possible in the later games.
