What really bothers me about this image is that this is supposed to be conveyed as a familiar situation to the reader. But how often does someone who is presumably not American find themselves next to a fat American ordering 5 big macs, a bag of "crisps" "a chocolate" and a cake and an extra large diet cola?

It's not like as soon as you eat 2001 calories a day when you should eat 2000 you may as well have 6000. Every single thing they add to their daily diet is making them that much fatter. Over time, that diet cola makes a big difference.

As a non-British European, this is all very confusing to me. I accept chips as thin crispy potato flakes and that deep fried potato slices are called fries.
