/jp/, I come to you with a question that has been plaguing me for years... How do you pronounce Touhou?

Properly, it's pronounced Toe-Hoe, sounds like a "toe" on your foot.
However, I always pronounce it TEW-HEW, like the number two, because I like how it sounds better and it's cuter.

It's like how Tewi is properly pronounced "Tei" but I still say TWO-WEE because it's much cuter.

Saying TWO-WEE sounds like Chewy.

Cute though.

>> No.9427374

This form of romanization is fucking retarded because of American influence. The "ou" just confuses everyone, even Americans themselves.
It's supposed to be pronunced like a long O.
But because they pronunce "too" like in "two" the romanization ends up a shitty mess instead of "toohoo".

え get followed by い to make it longer, actually. Hence the pronunciation of Tewi as 'Tee' given that ゐ got depreciated to い.

Couldn't it still be pronounced differently? Like "Tei" is pronounced kind of like Tay, but "Tewi" would be like "Teh - ee"
Basically, separating the sounds more instead of making it kind of like a dipthong.
