Currently playing: Wasuremono to Otoshimono
Looking forward to: Lost Christmas, Aerial, Biman ep. 2.

Skeptically optimistic for Lost Christmas. I hated the anime, but the most recent trial was really not bad. That being said though, with Daath nonsense everywhere and a character cast mostly composed of characters from the anime (granted, related parties to the Lost Christmas incident) I'm worried about the contents being too tied down to the source material for the author to get really creative and play off of setting. Also, Yet to Come's silhouette resembles Inori far more than I'd like to see, as well as Scrooge to Shuu.

Otherwise, four day countdown til Aerial is out, which I'm less skeptical about, but still kind of wary on. Inoue is a fantastic writer, the setting is fantastically detailed, and the military info-dumps are, to me at least, genuinely interesting. However, in the trial he had this issue with constant repetition of text in short bursts, excessive use of exclamation marks, and how unscientific the mech was are issues I hope don't carry over to the full version. No less it'll undoubtedly be a great game, and is easily my most anticipated title this year.

>> No.9423692

>>9423649
>and how unscientific the mech was
I don't mind superscience and overtechnology as long as it has a set of rules and is properly expanded on, which I'm quite sure won't be a problem for Inoue.

The characters in general and their interactions were good too.
It looks lot be a pretty solid sci-fi eroge, I may have praised it too much so you misunderstood me but I was just pleasantly surprised.

Also Airi was awesome, the trial needed more of her.

How good is White Album 2 compared to Parfait and NG. In what ways is it better or different from Maruto's previous works.

I'm asking this in all sincerity. I've been hesitating to play it since love triangles aren't really my favorite plot device, but I've been a fan of the quality drama and excellent character designs in his other stuff.

WA2 is longer, larger and perhaps in some ways more "complete" than the other two games. It's also somewhat different in genre, being more of an utsuge than Parfait or Damekoi.

For me personally, WA2 is easily my least favorite of the these three games (I haven't played other Maruto games), mostly because the protagonist is extremely hetare. I don't have problems understanding or acceptiong that WA2 is the highest rated out of his games, but I'd say it's probably more polarizing at least.

What are some eroge experiences that left you feeling like you have played a complete game, seen the whole story to the end, found significance in playing, or felt like you had really accomplished something in the outcome of the plot?

I was thinking about this earlier today. Such as Muramasa, which thoroughly explores it's themes and lives out every character's legacy. Similarly, Muv Luv Alt, which albeit not being as awesome, thoroughly narrated the process of the events and themes, and each character's story and significance in the plot. Or YU-NO which explored its scenario to the very end, while being eventful and entertaining as you stepped closer to tying the loose ends with every route. Or Baldr Sky, where, I at least, after Sora's route had the feeling that I had triumphed over an indomitable foe that had been foreshadowed across the entire game. Or Oretsuba where after living each of the lives of the personalities, the excellent fusion of all of them in a route that demonstrated the outcome of every relevant party. Other ones that come to mind off the top of my head are Dies Irae, Parfait, Subahibi, RuiTomo, Symphonic Rain, Ever17, Cross Channel, Textbook of Evil, Himawari, and Ayakashibito

White Album 2 is a culmination of the years Maruto has spent as a writer and, in many ways, his writing style itself.

Those who've played his works know that all of his games (well I can't speak for Folklore Jam because I haven't read it, but apart from that) have this one route that's extremely characteristic of him. And I like to think of WA2 as a 4mb extended version of it, the difference being that it follows a linear narrative this time. It's the one game in his portfolio that has his stamp all over it - every damn inch of the way - and just for that reason alone I consider it the best of his works.

To be honest I don't know what to think of it even to this day
The writing is amazing most of the time but there are times where Romeo goes too far and it's night incomprehensible, especially during some scenes of Sayaka and Fueko's "routes".

Two of my most memorable eroge, Swan Song and SubaHibi, especially the former.
It's the only eroge that I couldn't put down after starting it and ended up reading it in one sitting (barring eating and naps). The atmosphere, the characters, the story without boring chicken sandvich moments.

It was all plot, no bullshit and the ending was very satisfying (if you pretend only normal end ever existed). Soundtrack was also one of the best I've heard and it's "more realistic" art style was a refreshing takeoff from the norm.

Muv-Luv trilogy and Baldr Sky would also fit the "feeling of accomplishment" criteria, but that's more because they both were so damn long. I kinda also hated both of their endings, fuck Original Hive Arc and Sora route to hell.

Uh, I don't know why you guys think they're trying to be "subtle" about it just because they didn't explicitly state it in words. The end of the Amane after is a flat out visual statement confirming the already pretty clear theories from the first game, and the promo at the end of grand route features the voice actor in question.

And just thematically, it really wouldn't make sense any other way.

I did, though the letter in Kajitsu was a strong statement, it didn't really confirm the whole thing beyond any doubt, just left it all up in the air about what happened.

Given all these non-subtle showings, I think she will also come in the grand route. Otherwise it would be pretty poor showing after setting us up with this expectation. No doubt they will try to spin on her formal appearance in Rakuen, and so far the characters they put in have been useful.

I don't think it was really bad per se. I mean sure it was braindead obvious, but Baldr Sky in general had a lot of that easy-to-guess foreshadowing that still made you look forward to when the reveal would finally come in-game. I think it's part of what made the pacing so good.

It's okay. The regular sex scenes are not that bad, some surprising fetishes there.

But the real high point are the NTR scenes. Well, not really NTR since it's you who pretty much forces her to whore herself, I don't know what this fetish is called.

Those two prostitution scenes in particular - the way she calls you before, to confirm whether you really want her to do it, you just can tell she doesn't want to do it, her voice shaking and breaking up, her fear and uneasiness almost palpable. And then the way she breaks down crying and apologizing to you after losing her virginity to the old guys - pure gold.

Just make sure you keep both her holes intact if you want those scenes to have the full effect though, otherwise she just convinces the men to fuck her in the ass.

You will get plenty of good faps once you start breaking her into maso / lewdness / protag induced NTR. Though you will also find some generic rabu rabu if you're not into those as they're all optional.

> without fear of heartbreak
The little sister in Mashiroiro Symphony's my favorite character, but her route was the most heartbreaking one. While other characters' route were all full of lovey-dovey that makes you want to hug them so tight, all you got in her route was a few hundred lines of love, then the rest was dealing with people disapproving their (incest) relationship.

In her ending both school didn't merge, and she transferred into the all-female school. They finally give you more icha rabu with her in a 45-minutes drama CD released 10 months after the game. ;_;

I only heard of Pieta for the first time about 20 minutes ago when I visited the Erogamescape link posted here, and if I do play it I'm not going to get to it for a while thanks to a pretty long backlog and a lot of new games (Leyline and Hiragumo-chan should both be getting here this week). It's scored pretty low, too - 65 on EGS vs. Sayonara wo Oshiete's 79; even the OmaNatsu games were scored higher.

I'll still likely give it a try someday. Note that it did get a (low-scored) review of 薄幸姉妹幸せ探しノヴェル。ただそれだけ。 so maybe hardcore imouto lovers might want to check it out.

Started LovePlus+ and went for Rinko just because this CG remotely reminded me of SubaHibi's Tomosane. I also named myself Takuji and chose to use 僕 for "I".

Finished the "get a girl in 100 days" last evening and fiddled around a bit after that before going to sleep. I'm just wondering, do I miss any content if I play in skip mode, such as birthdays, holidays etc.? I really don't have time nor the resolution to date her in real time and wait hours or days for shit to happen. Also wondering what exactly did LovePlus+ add to the original?

My impressions on it so far are rather mixed. It's a nifty little game with likeable heroines, yet dominated tedious grindfest "gameplay". It's not bad, but I'm wondering why it's so damn popular in Japan. It looks and plays like a poor man's dating sim without any ero, though on a portable device. Is it supposed to be a babby's first dating sim or is there something I'm missing?

Also got my little brother hooked into 999 after failing with Chaos;Head, seeing that something with more gameplay would perhaps interest him more.
He's a lot better at speculation than I was. I mean, he figured out that 9th man was offed for his bracelet, Ace is "Snake's" killer and also exclaimed "maybe there is an ending where everyone dies by his hand" before even getting the sub ending. All that without spoiling or completing the game even once and from the looks of it he's heading for the Axe Ending right now.

That being said, I played Leyline, and it felt like I was reading a light novel. I think it'll probably be a decent, if not good game, but Aerial is overshadowing it by a lot imo.

That being said, I too think that Aerial is very overhyped, and also realize I'm a participant in that. I just want mechs, there's not enough of them in quality vns.

>>9440954
Now that you've finished Artemis Blue, I think you can sympathize with my concern about Aerial having a proper ending, no? I'm not entirely confident Aerial will be better though. Artemis blue is a great game, but not phenomenal, and that's the basis for his competency in writing Sci-fi. Personally, I like Ashita no Yukinojou series better, even though they aren't really comparable (besides being written by the same guy). Inoue has a rare talent for powerful dialogue, that has really shone in all of his games.

Just finished Meikyuu. I must have read almost a third of the grand route today, goddam.

It honestly felt a bit tedious to me. Not much of the humor which made Kajitsu so fun, and a large part of the grand route (mainly, the military parts) just didn't seem very important to Yuuji's development. Anyway, Rakuen should still be fun. More of the main girls is always good. And hopefully Miliela (sp?) shows up again.

I get where you're coming from, but to be perfectly honest, I was so focused on how well written the characters were and how they developed through some really powerful scenes that I kind of hoped he wouldn't rip away attention from that to focus on resolving on other things. Considering how well he managed to portray humanity's situation and just how incredibly fucked they were while still having some good character interaction in Aerial's trial gives me hope that he will be able to pull it off, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. It's not long off!

And I'll definitely be giving the Yukinojou series a shot in the future. I was interested in it before cause people seemed to praise it, but now that I've actually experienced an Inoue game I'm really looking forward them. Especially since Serina seems like she could be Haru levels of awesome (even if she isn't the protagonist).

Because there's not much of a plot not directly related to the characters and the protagonists, that excellent character design is the whole focal point.

>Pretty sure the entire poodle dog team (not good with dog names, pardon) is coming back for Yuji
pretty sure it was mentioned back in Grisaia that Danny died some time ago. I do hope Millie gets some more limelight than just Dave's Nukimakuri Channel though, the whole Yabuinu platoon segment felt a lot too short for what it could have offered. However I do appreciate the fact that Fujisaki attempted to detail how exactly Yuuji came to be, as opposed to Sharin's went to a war here, started a business there, became an elite elsewhere, all of it before 20!

On another note, anybody here played Axanael? It doesn't seem to come up half as often as Sumaga, so I was wondering if it's any good.

I thought that Yuuji actually saved him when he was in trouble. Something like a grenade exploded near them and screwed over both of them. Though, it has been a while since I played Kajitsu so I'm not so sure.

As for Axanael, I didn't enjoy it so much. Most of the characters are crap, the story is pretty crap and while the jokes were initially fun, they got old fairly quick. But it is relatively short, and very easy to read.

Yumiko - heir to a company?, doesn't want to do what her grandfather says? so he builds a school for her to confine her? then she completely distrusts others??
Amane - normal-ish girl, the only survivor of a freak accident, feels guilty about surviving
Michiru- grew up expected by others as a genius but turns out to be below average? so they send her away to this school?? develops a split personality because ????
Makina- child genius, ??????, slowly regaining her brain functions over the years
Sachi- normal girl, parents got hit by a car, believes if she always follows other peoples instructions then she won't get hurt anymore

Also,
Didn't they say there was a reason why Makina has a weird speech impediment? I think it was pretty mundane reason but I just want to remember the details.

Depends on what you found repetitive. The gameplay remains the sameish I think. The sex scenes same shchara type crap for the past 10 years. But what I really liked about Bunny Black 2 was that there's new characters to throw into the mix and none of the old characters need any more (or have any more) character development so it's just a lot of character interactions and stuff. It's also pretty short so if you enjoyed BB's characters you might as well play the sequel too. No plot either of course though.

>> No.9447604

I'll try

Yumiko - pretty much, I think, in different order though. Her trust was betrayed by her father aswell as her classmates until she ended cutting some bitch up. Her father build the school to confine her because she's gotten mostly worthless to him in that state.
Amane - also pretty much, though she also feels guilty about "killing" Kazuki
Michiru - also got abused by teachers because she's dumb, no friends besides that one girl who ended up jumping off the roof, developed some sort of heart desease a few years later. Then she got some heart transplant which ended up coming with a whole soul which is her second personality. Or something.
Makina - trauma from her father dying and rotting in front of her for a few days is pretty much the main problem. Her mother being a bitch and a little sister who gets the new heir exists (though we never hear that much about her, other than she's also turning into a snotty little bitch). There's one of the joke scenes where Sachi mentions her skull is weirdly formed so she can't voice everything right, but I'm not sure if you should take that scene as is.
Sachi - don't think there's much more to it.

Wait I dug through my memory banks and remembered some more.

In 2 the party size is 6 members only instead of 9. You can now choose how to do the skills of everyone. There are no more equipment, instead now you got 5 item slots and you put stuff there like a weapon that gives +30% pierce damage, a shield that increases blunt resist by 15% etc etc. Also a lot of little changes here and there. Overall imo it's a definite improvement gameplay wise over the 1st. The difficulty starts off normalish in first few levels then goes into hard (mostly because at a certain stage enemies show up who attack twice or auto kos) and then into pretty damn hard terrority when enemies start tossing aoe attacks everywhere. Then of course it becomes trivial when you have atleast 2 members who you have full ai control over who get do aoe heal/attacks at your command.

Makina- was this the one where there was some hostage situation and the kidnappers confined her with her father's corpses for days until rescuers arrive? Was it the mother's fault or something for how long it took for help to arrive?

Makina - the time Makina spent with the corpse was one week untill help arrived. and yes her mother was responsible of it due his father being too good for his own good so he was disposed, the family isn't exactly clean. also why Makina speaks the way is mostly due to her hospitalisation being so long, she was speech impaired due to shock and being years in hospital she became "blank" so to fill that "blankness" in her she easily picks up traits of people around her. thats how I remember it being

On Yumiko:
okay, my memory isn't exactly clear either so some parts may be wrong, but this basically:

- Yumiko's parents marry; maternal grandparents are promised financial assistance as part of the marriage deal.
- Yumiko is born. Daddy isn't happy because he wants a male heir, ends up sending Yumiko and her mom back to her grandparents, takes in a bunch of lovers(?)
- Grandma & grandpa blame Yumiko for this situation ("if only you were a boy!"). Mom gets hospitalized due to stress.
- Several years later, Yumiko gets summoned back to dad's household. At first she's distrustful, but later she starts to believe she's really loved by her father. Gets sent to an ojousama school, starts to actually enjoy life etc.
- Yumiko overhears some servant gossip; Michiaki is only putting on a good daddy act to get on Yumiko's good side because his son (Yumiko's half-brother), whom he intended to be the heir, died suddenly. Yumiko is shocked and heartbroken.
- Somewhere around that time, a newspaper reports dad's many, many illicit affairs with women; (I think.) Yumiko starts to be ignored at school. Despite Yumiko's best efforts, her mother learns about the scandal and jumps off the hospital roof.
- As a result of the above stress, Yumiko ends up assaulting a classmate with a carving knife. Nothing serious, but obviously daddy is not happy.
- Yumiko's father sends her to Mihama Gakuen, stating that he won't let her out until she resigns to him; (he still needs her as a heir and his puppet)

Fun fact: the above events are loosely based on the figure of a real-life JR president (forgot which)

Sounds good. I just started playing it and it and the gameplay does feel more refined. Not sure if I like the random encounters though.

Yes, I forgot about Danny since he mentioned it quite a few time. But nothing was mention of the rest of the team, not at least the one who is working at CIA division 1.

I thought it was a very nice touch back in kaijitsu, sneaking in a bit of past of him without breaking into too much, which was reserved for the grand route.

Hello kind people, how about you recommend me some games in which I can spend 40% of the time looking at cute 2d-girls and 60 of the time looking at a menu. Thanks

Thanks alot man! This is helping me out alot. One last question on Makina:

Why was she involved at all in the getting rid of her father? I thought she was a good and useful child

Makina was used as bait her father into trap, and Makina herself wasn't that important to family due to them having her sister.

So I just finished my first VN, Shuffle.

It was a lot shorter than I thought thought it would be.

Any suggestions for longer, light hearted ones? Maybe with more realistic developments other than meet, cook dinner, sex.

Personal pet peeve of mine, but the translated only people always seem to ask for recommendations like they're starving for VN's. I keep suggesting they should learn moon to get what they want, but 9 times out of 10 they go on the defensive or make up some lame excuse not to study it.

Try Parfait or Dame no Koi. If you're looking for translated material, consider checking out Yume Miru Kusuri or Hoshimemo.
