Using this video as an example. Why do some many Japanese songs (from games or not) use English words and phrases?

>> No.9420823

They like English.

Or something.

>> No.9420824

Because it sounds mysterious, if you use foreign language.

>> No.9420825

It's foreign so that makes it cool.

To prevent another clusterfuck of additional kanji.

>> No.9420829

Because it sounds fancy to them. It's kind of like how some people throw phrases from French and other languages in English songs.

>> No.9420832

Because they're not as close-minded about music as other cultures.

>> No.9420835

Because the Japs are infatuated with people who drop bombs on them

Sometimes for the hell of it, and oftenly because of Japanese unlike English ends their sentences in auxilary verbs which makes some things hard to express in Japanese without it sounding unnatural or grammatically incorrect.(mostly jap hiphop though)

>> No.9420919

Why do they listen to this shit? They can't even understand the words.

Why do American people use french in their memes?

Because it sounds good, thats like in non-english speaking countries in which they're also partial english lyrics in the songs.

Why do Americans use HFCS in all their soft drinks? To the point where they have to label normal Pepsi as "throwback" Pepsi.
The only soft drinks made with corn syrup here are exclusively American ones like Dr Pepper.

>> No.9422390

We know they do it to sound cool, but nobody has mentioning why their choice is English, not, for example, Portuguese.

It's America's "effortless cultural imperialism": with how widespread media is now, and how people tend to unconsciously imitate those in power or perceived to be in power, American cultural influences are affecting all advanced civilizations hard. Here in Finland young people use tons of English and even Ebonics in their colloquial speech.

>> No.9422402

English is more spoken than Portuguese, also bands like X JAPAN make a genre of music (rock) originated in America, so they have a lot of influences from the Anglophone rock bands they liked when they were young.

>> No.9422468

>>9422444
>English is more spoken than Portuguese

Sure, but the point was that practically NOBODY uses Portuguese or Russian or a comparable language to look cool, while in the case of English it is well-entrenched.

The amount of pop culture America produces explains part of it, but aside from that people in other advanced civilizations still choose to use English instead of their own language a lot in situations where there's no overt reason to do so.

>> No.9422472

Same reason ABBA used Italian "Mamma mia" and Rammstein used English, Russian, Spanish and heck knows what else.
