Just started reading Kino no Tabi in order to get better at reading Japanese. I did not expect so many drawn-out explanations of Kino performing maintenance on and loading her gun. All in all, it's much better than the anime so far.

I'm only about two thirds through the first novel, and even though it's so far been stories that were in the anime, I still think it's more enjoyable in most respects. There's more descriptions of what Kino sees and does, and more banter between Kino and Hermes. Plus, I think there are occasionally things that weren't in the anime. For instance, correct me if I'm wrong, but in the novel there is long and detailed description of Kino shooting the king in the head during those gladiator/colosseum battles. I don't remember anything like that happening in the anime.

I'm assuming the later novels cover stuff that wasn't shown in the anime, so you might try starting there if you don't want to read about things you already saw.

Has anyone read any of the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure LNs?
