Yeah, it's not always that easy. Suwako can start any ground-usable skill attack before she even pops back out (ie: That damn geyser), making it extremely difficult to do any significant amount of damage to someone that knows what they're doing. And I have to think anyone with that card in their deck probably does.

One thing you should never do is stand in front of where the suwako is gonna come out. All you should be doing is throwing a bullet in place of where she's gonna pop out. She has no graze move underground, but she can catch careless people who try to mash her on recovery.

If you're playing remilia, what i would suggest is stand about 3 characters away from suwako, set up a few 214Bs on wakeup, then on hitconfirm just combo her. (It shouldnt be that hard, provided that you can use remilia efficiently).

Well, not everyone, a good lot of them though. There's been some new people appearing lately though so there is lower end of the skill pool available too, occasionally at least.

Weather is manipulable though you know, if you don't like typhoons then you should try to prevent them. but overall we didn't really have any more typhoons than some other weathers, I'm sure it just feels like that since it's one of the more noticeable weathers.

My Okuu is quite terrible, but mainly graze out of pressure, her 66B is a grazing attack, use it if someone gets too spam happy. Okuu's 3A is one of the best antiairs in the game along with her 4A. Learn to BE, IMO (<-- that is important) BE7 is quite useful midscreen and BE2 on corner. get a little more bullet cover before trying to air approach, otherwise it's easy to DP you (remember marisa DP spam) or 3A you (with Okuu). I guess that's the basics, if youw ant to really improve you should join #hisouten on Rizon.

By the way, I'm quite bad tier. My Okuu is quite bad too.

Should be pretty easy to know when to use it; it comes out reasonably fast, so use it if they're in range with no bullets, and don't if they're not. It's not airblockable so you don't have to worry about that.

Though, I don't play Okuu, I'm speaking based off of Sakuya 3A experience, which is the same thing but a bit safer sometimes. So I dunno.

Guys, how are some weather changes handled in tournaments?
Let's say there's a final match, but suddenly 3 typhoons kick in. Are players told to just deal with it and use the weather to their advantage/ avoid being taken advantage of, or are the matches remade?

Silly question, i know, but i've been wondering about that for a while.

In high level tourneys, weather is practically considered fair by all means. The reason behind this is, you can manipulate weather through MANY ways. The fact that you got three typhoons in a row, in which you did NOT want only means that you were unable to manipulate the weather correctly.

If river mist is on the counter, try hard not to get knocked down/hit. If it's a typhoon on the counter, which you don't want, go for a force on knockdown whether it means getting you OR your opponent knocked down. If it really bothers you, use a system card, OR even change it via levelling up a random skillcard, etc.

Good players can manipulate weather to their advantage (ie: see someone running only 5card reversals, force snow all day, or force drizzle for a spellcard setup, force river mist as a zone heavy character, etc), and its all fair play really. If you get a disadvantageous weather, you have no one else but you to blame for not manipulating the weather when you needed it most.

Not sure if this will work or not.

Thus far this is decent, but I have a few questions.

First, this deck system is very unintuitive, and as such I'm confused as to what the skill cards actually do. Without any equipped, I can still use special moves, and with them equipped they show up in the deck. I'm curious as to what the advantage is to even including them in the deck when I can use them anyway.

Second, expanding on the previous question, why is it that I can only use some of the special moves while the others are only available through the deck?

Third, I only very rarely play fighters so I may just be ignorant to this, but I'm seeing a lot of terminology being used on the wiki and even in a number of posts in this thread which is either completely redundant or unnecessary. Am I mistaken in my perception or is there a reason why the terminology is used?

Finally, assuming a scale of 0-10, 0 being worst possible adn 10 being greatest possible, what would the average skill level be of the people of /jp/?

the skill cards replace a default skill with a different skill, or levels up a skill (goes quicker, does more damage, larger area covered, etc.)

As far as usefulness, take an hour and go into practice mode and test out the skill and see how it fits with your play style with each character.

/jp/ doesn't have an "average" skill level. There is one group of 7+/10 tournyfags and then the noob group of 4-/10's. In any case, if one person is simply raping the other, chances are one of them is going to leave after a few rounds anyhow and try their luck with a different IP for somebody with a smaller skill gap. close matches are a lot more fun, after all.

1: Regarding skill cards, they have two effects. They allow you to use the skill - you got that one - but they also level it up. Some moves are basically useless at level 0, and gain very important properties at level 1, for example. So even if you have it in your default moveset, it's important to be able to activate another skillcard of it to level it up. That's very specific tho, some skills aren't very useful to level up.

2: Because characters have a default moveset. You can switch each of them as you wish using your deck.

3: I can't provide a very relevant answer... terminology is used because it's useful and allows a much quicker understanding of what you are talking about. You'd need to ask about specific terminology issues to get a more specific answer.

4: Depends. There are very few good players around, but you'll eventually come by one one time or another. From what I've seen, a lot of players on /jp/ take it easy or are soku-only players, so the skill level isn't too high. You'll still need some amount of training to get to their level, obviously, but this game+community makes for a pretty beginner friendly environment.

Any Patchy players here? What's her most effective deck setup, I usually roll with

4x water geyser
4x wind spin
3x Water bullet hyper
2x Fire Pillar
2x Philosopher Stone
1x Royal Flare

And how do I use Philo stone aside from just spamming specials? Like are there any extended combos/blockstrings I can use this move for or is it just for zoning purposes

It's far from completely redundant or innecesary, using numbers as directions and the 4 buttons A, B, C and D is way more useful than othe terminology.
I.e: 236B is much easier than down down-forward forward weak projectile. Saying DP is much easier than saying shoryuken, CH much easier than typing counter hit, etc...
