Hope it doesn't take a deux ex machina to produce a happy end, or even some fucking closure, for this game (well, happy other than "Sara and I took the twins and got the FUCK out of there and left those psychos to their own devices).

Makina route took this game right from a Nitroplus plot and into Black Cyc territory. What a horrible, discordant ending, and what a perfect way to totally the last meager shred of sympathy and goodwill towards the protagonist after he'd spent the bulk of this side of the game skipping merrily throughout the mansion blindly spouting Michiru's 1984 slogans. I felt almost physically ill. Mikuri Whatsherface is kind of a sick fuck, if some parts of this game are any indication.

So the list of unconscionably horrible characters, already comprising Michiru, Tsumugi, Yuki and everyone who stood complicity by and let this horrible shit happen, now includes THE FUCKING PROTAGONIST, DAMMIT Kai how could you DO THAT? Does it strike NOBODY that there are many better options than "man, this one's uppity, TIME TO KILL THEM!"

Also, why is the fact that Michiru's brainwashing everyone with her weird hugs not phasing anyone? It's well beyond the realm of allowable suspension of disbelief. And where the fuck was Chisha in this route?

Fuck Kai and his denpa mass murdering girlfriends; Chisa and Makina should make an escape-or-suicide pact and get the unholy hell out of there now. Is there an "everyone dies" ending?

This was just about the last straw. I've never done this with any VN before, but I am seriously on the verge of just installing this game, unfinished, and be done with it. I'll give it one more route and that's it. Even trainwreck value only lasts so long before it all gets too sickening to continue.

All in all, it was pretty enjoyable for most parts, I still think the true route in insects was an atrocity and an unnecassary waste of time which didn't really add too much. Actually, I'm pretty sure the Kimika route gave me more.
I can't say it was the 10/10 masterpiece that many people make it out to be for me, but it was still a lot better than I expected. Ignoring the enjoyment factor I can see how they did a whole lot right, though, especially the same scenario from multiple points of views plot element was the best done I've seen so far.

I have now completed Tsukina's route in Baldr Force EXE. This game sure doesn't hesitate to put its characters through the wringer. Up to this point, I've been getting all of the endings for each heroine, but I somehow can't bring myself to go for Tsukina's bad end after all that's happened. (It also doesn't help that I'd have to go back a couple chapters to make the appropriate choice.)

Playing this game has made me think again about how pampered we are these days. We have databases and catalogs where games are tagged and categorized based on content, so we can target specific interests and never have to encounter "unpleasant" things if we don't want to. This is nice, of course, but I think it can lead to a person becoming too soft and unable to handle negative feelings. I don't like content like rape, but I think it's important to encounter it every so often so that I don't fully lose my nerve.

Anyway, I'll be moving on to Ryan next, and I have high hopes for her based on how nice she was in Minori's neutral end. I don't normally play games with an enforced playing order (though this one is somewhat loose), but each route seems to be doing a good job of building on top of the ones before it. With most eroge, I end up moving on to something else after clearing one or two routes, but I can't wait to get to the end of this one.

If I had to say what I like least about the game, I guess it would be that there aren't enough battles. The game's designed around multiple playthroughs, so I understand that having to replay the same fights could get tiresome, but it still feels a bit lacking. My opinion of Subahibi is pretty much the same as yours, although for different reasons. Personally, I loved the open ending and the different ways of looking at the story that it offered. What bothered me was that the core plot was way simpler than I thought it would be, and I didn't find it as compelling as the plot of the first three chapters. It was well-executed drama, but after It's my own invention, I guess I was expecting something more. Also, I felt like the Wittgenstein quotes could have been better worked into the story.

In summary: it was a high-quality game that'll leave me thinking for a while, but I still like Himawari better I wouldn't call it a flawless masterpiece.

This was far more fucked up than I thought it would be.
Common part is similar to early Key stuff, it's certainly readable and kind of fun and it helps that the soundtrack is amazing.
But when you get to the routes and endings the depressing element get ramped up by 1000, far more than anything Key ever did.
Problem is that everything happen so far that you get no time to feel anything except "well this was fucked up"
I'd say the only exception is Airi's route (the imouto character) that is quite obviously a lot better than the rest and actually develop its plot in a sensible way

After finishing the first 4 routes you unlock the true route 5 that basically explain the plot, the last part of that route was pretty good but again it felt like there wasn't enough explanation.

When you see it in its entirety it's not bad at all, the setting/scenario itself are pretty good but the writing just doesn't measure up most of the time.
But people who want an experience similar to Kanon/Air with more depression would probably like it, it helps that Maeda did a really great job with the soundtrack.

Actually half of the shit that happened during July∞ is explained during Tsui no Sora II. It's a rather flimsy explanation but an explanation still. The whole first chapter is just Tomosane/Yuki's "dream" and he was an avid reader of "2deep4u" literature, thus the references.

And anyways most SubaHibi fans consider "Down the Rabbit-Hole 2", "It's My Own Invention" and "Looking-Glass Insects" (a notion I don't really share with the last one) the best, worthwhile chapters of the game.

If memory serves, DtRH2 and IMOI were the longest chapters of the game. Looking-Glass Insects is still medium lenght if you play both of the endings (which you should).

Just finished Sayuki and Momiji's route in Fortissimo EXS.
What the hell is this shit? It doesn't feel like a proper route.

On both routes, not only did they unceremoniously killed off the protag in the middle of the route, the respective heroine hooked up and eloped with another guy.

So not only did the protag die, he gets NTR'd too. It especially feels bad on Momiji's route since she doesn't even know Reiji died yet she hooked up with another guy.

Well it's still enjoyable, the fights are amusing as ever but I don't really like how the final boss fight gets resolved with a literal deus ex machina.

Anyway Sakura's route is still the best, not only does it feel like a proper route, the match-ups there are pretty even.

It should be pretty clear by the end of chapter 1 that Kageaki had his motives for decapitating the kid seeing as it clearly contradicts with his earlier behaviour and his post as a part time cop. It's not like he did that for fun. Muramasa is a complex game, you shouldn't read it with the mindset that things happen because the protagonist likes to be grimdark or some bullshit like that.

The second trial was a lot better than I expected, especially the actual battle in it.
And now that there's ego and id, superego is probably a given as far as stages go, so the final battles should be bullshit upon bullshit, which is gonna be great.
Wish I could find some more information on Orphireus, since it's limited tio one line tops, though the part 'tried to creat a perpetual movement machine' should be enough.
