http://kanjidamage.com/ is a good resource for when you're trying to memorize the kanji
Use Anki cards as well.
Look in the archive, there are plenty of informative threads in the past that don't get repeated since it's such a trite thread.

My Japanese Coach is a fun BrainAge style DS game

I use a mix of heisig's and core6k with Anki to learn (i have decks for both as well as a pdf of the book)

Also read Tae Kim's guide.
