So, back to progress, but it amounts to more or less nothing. Of course, Ixrec assures the quality of his brand! Eric promises to "motivate" his subordinate here--I'm disgusted by the affair. It's so shamefully obvious: co-opting Baldr Sky like this, compensating for the audience lost by Rewrite... It's gotta feel like eating a McDonald's Soyburger or something, it's just blatant cross-consumer pandering. I don't think Ixrec even has a well articulated plan for putting that which is not yet dead out of its misery. Maybe he thinks he can just try to take the reigns into his crooked, servile hands and murder the beast at his will. But you have competition again, Eric... I hope you're planning something.

Insemination, dear boy, you can't be translating this fast. Make your name doing what you do best (we both know what that is--a hint: dolphins), not trying to best someone at a game he isn't playing.

A mistake which our ever-virtuous VNTS-kun has acknowledged. With that having been said, I'm quite pleased with this development. Not everyone has a PSP or is interested in reading on one. I've been hinting for months that my advice would be a complete port to another engine (an ISOpatcher for the PS2 or PSP versions could still be included as an additional option). It's easier than you'd think, as long as you can extract the resources and the scripts, and decode the opcodes. The hacker must be somewhat skilled, at least, to be willing to tackle a console project, so I won't say this is out of the question unless the hacker himself can tell us why.

You know, for what it's worth, I always want to troll these guys' project, but they're so earnest and level headed that it doesn't end up working out. They take it seriously and seem like their feelings are hurt, or actually try to defend their project and stuff. >>9227033

PCSX2 isn't that hard to set up, especially for this game. They have an easy slider that can be turned on in case tweaking is too hard for people to play it on the emulator and I would assume that some people might play it on actual hardware using a variety of other methods. I might post my setup for PCSX2 too along with the patch...

A discussion with my team concluded that doing a PSP version at this moment in time will be pretty detrimental to the release for the PS2 versions, so we'll be holding off on that, sorry. It won't be that much longer though for us to do that version since the scripts in the PSP are identical to the ones in the PS2 EbiKore+ version. A release date for that will be announced in the very near future for that.

Sorry for any inconveniences this will cause. I personally apologize for this.

No problem. I'm excited to just be able to play the game at all. If there's a PSP version eventually, even better, but no rush. Especially since this will just be the "demo" release, it's more important to focus your resources on the PS2 version. PSP can come later.

There are two factors that are making a port to the PC unfeasible. One is the fact that they have bytecode in the blocks that we have not been able to solve yet. We've been able to figure out some things about it but it will take longer to be able to manipulate it freely as we please, and I'm not certain if the MIPS opcodes for that will translate over to x86 perfectly or if we will be able to figure it out. That alone will already make it pretty hard. The other is the time factor. The custom engine does not provide any type of easy way to port over onto the PC in any way whatsoever. Although the fandisks are written in Kirikiri 2, none of the resources in the actual game and that save for a couple of CGs and the BGM are actually interoperable in any way. To do as you suggest would take massive amounts of effort and time that would exceed any type of gains in convenience for people or enhancements we would be able to add for the game.

And for your latter half of the post, I simply can't care enough about your personal views or opinions for them in the intention of trolling us to matter much. We will take all feedback and comments that are constructive in some way to improve the experience for everyone who wants to play this but anything else that isn't that is just a huge waste of time that I couldn't even be more concerned about.

But again, that was a good question and I hope I answered it to your satisfaction.

>>9227330

You're welcome.

>> No.9227454

>>9227410
I'll take your word for it that the work you're already doing in the way of hacking is a feat in and of itself, and that anything more would be detract prohibitively from work that actually needs to be done.

If that's the case, then I'd strongly suggest that you provide configuration files or scripts, links to the exact version of the exact emulator you bugtested on, etc. etc. along with your patch script. Getting the game up and running should involve as few steps as possible. It should come with a clickable shortcut that can launch the emulator and load the game automatically, so that the user doesn't have to go through a separate interface (the emulator's) to get in-game.
In brief, the experience should be as close as possible to playing a native PC VN.

If you can do this, I'll have little ammunition left. Remember, my work is your work, in the end.

The fact of the matter is that your opinion on how you want to make the experience as close to playing a native PC VN is only one part of the overall opinion on how the game should be played. Although the large majority might do as you said, there are a proportion of people that will want to play this on native hardware and I can't possibly concentrate on the PC audience only.

It's not that I don't want to do what you said but there are some legal issues that I do not want to tussle over on the emulator BIOS and the actual game ISO itself for what you suggested. In my case, I can only provide support for ripping the content from the actual game disk, applying the patch, then playing it. I've already had a big tussle on here on my stance on this issue but yeah, anything you don't do to the letter is not supported by me. You're on your own in that case.

Bundling PCSX2 is also a big no-no in general, as I am sure that they explicitly prohibit that. I've tested consistently on PCSX2's latest SVN builds but I also tested on the latest stable build, 0.9.8. They all work wonderfully provided you configure the game in a specific manner. Those settings will be given in the readme.

So therefore, the most I can give you guys is the patch, configuration guide to PCSX2 emulator, and support for doing as my instructions provide. It is not noob friendly and some setup will have to be done. But really, that's all I can provide without doing some things that are against my stance and policy on the patch in general, and unfortunately, it's non-negotiable. Flame and troll all you want because of that, but I will not change my stance on that.

Sorry about the long post to read.

I imagine that most people who are interested in reading it will be old enough to have played with emulators and actually know how to set one up. Plus there are torrents full of all sorts of plugins and BIOs that are readily available on any torrent site. This is also a good opportunity for people to Google for help rather than begging people to do all the work for them.

Plus it's 2D, most 2D games have been running fine on PCSX2 for a couple years now no matter what setting you choose.

For Jast, the School Days release will probably be the most important title for a while. It is likely to be one of the best selling PC visual novels to date in the West and should help weaken the belief there is no money to be made in the West.

PCSX2 is GPL, which means as long as you provide the notice and a pointer to where to get the source, you haven't violated their license. >In English, the sales have been increasing quite a bit. If sales get to be 3x what they are now, we’ll start looking into French and Chinese markets.
Here's the big one. Mangagamer is just Bamboo's fun side project: breaking even is "doing well" for him, because it means he can continue being a westaboo without cutting additionally into his bottom line. Basically it means his trips to LA are free. I'm not surprised to hear that they're thinking about approaching the Chinese market--they'd probably make a lot more money than they do in the English market, even. They could probably do well in--ghasp--Korean, as well, but I'm sure that's unmentionable for cultural reasons... But, what's this? French? Who are they planning on selling that to? Surely not the heavily regulated, culture-conscious People's Republic of France, and just as unlikely the totalitarian Republique du Quebec! Who do they expect to sell these game to? French-speaking Vietnamese? Subsaharan African? Do they think the Muslims in Morocco and Algeria are looking forward to Overdrive's newest pornographic game featuring every type of absolutely-haram sodomy? Without a doubt they'd do better in Spanish or even Russian! What a pointless existence, Mangagamer is. Literally a cancer, growing, dying all at once, symptomatic of our system's beautiful death, but killing it far too slowly. This is the kind of misery out of which we must be put.

What? There is no PC release of Amagami. Just PS2 and PSP. They're doing both EBKore+ versions, with the focus on the PS2 version and the PSP version coming later.

Initially it was the regular Amagami for PS2 (Sony ID SLPS-25918) moving on to eb collection+ one (SLPS-25987) as the hacking progressed with PSP version planned for the release as well because its script is identical to Ebikore+ one. PC's Amagami SS has nothing to do with any of these and it may or may not get translated if the team has willing translators and Kirikiri scripters.
At least that's what I gathered by following the VNTS threads.

I dunno if I've been sending the wrong messages to you guys but is it that hard to understand my release schedule and intentions? In any case, sorry if they are, I'll clarify here with a short history of what happened.

At some point in time, you may have seen http://freesmiler.livejournal.com/.. This was the starting platform we worked off of. The only support avalible at the time was the PS2 original release. There were a lot of things to fix up so our initial focus was on that.

We did a little bit of research into EbiKore+ PS2 verson around 1 month and a half after fixing up the tool and save for some really weird things it did with the images, it was nearly identical. We then were able to extend support to that version of the game.

The PSP version hack was very recent, around a month ago when one of my other team members were able to find a unpacker for the game's archives. More research lead to the discovery of tools that could also repack the archives once modifications were made. That was 2 weeks ago.

So at this point in time, we can support all versions of the game. I hope that clarified things for everyone. In the case of the Amagami PC fandisks, I initially thought we may or may not be able to translate them due to the fact that Amagami itself will be a pain to fully translate and that our translators might not be willing to do them. But the translators on my team expressed interest in translating that as well and since it is in KiriKiri2, it wouldn't be that hard to change and modify to translate.

The kicker is that anyone can and should pick up doing the fandisks from us as at the rate we are translating the game, it will take an eternity for us to get to the point where we can translate the fandisks, which would be after the full game in our estimates of around late 2015- 2016.

That Bamboo live chat came and passed. I wasn't actually awake when it did, so did anybody ask about possible English release of Chou Dengeki Stryker? They are releasing the new routes also as Eiden Fantasia style add-on in Japan, after all.
I bought the original game and am really enjoying it, so it'd be great if they could get rest out.

Forgot my game development snapshots of the game I always post...

In any case, I'll post some more project-relevant information about things going on. Just so you guys know, the first day patch only barely covers 0.9% of the game, 20 scripts out of the 2208 scripts we need to translate in the original release only, which is kind of a disheartening thing.

We may need to recruit a lot more people for a project this scale because at our current rate, I don't think 3-4 years with 2-3 translators we have now will make enough progress for you guys to be satisfied. At the same time, I would rather like to now see a lot of fragmentation issues with translation and such and release something high-quality for everyone. The team will probably be internally talking about this after the patch's release.

Also, about the scripts and tools, the tool we use is under the New BSD license, which is GPL compatible. We'll be releasing most of our source code into the Google code page for the thing save for some encoders because of its volatility to change and for project-safety reasons. I dunno about the scripts but they will not be release at this point in time for the patch. They will be in the final release.

No, my GOD no. Paper-thin characters, contrivances at every turn, hours spent repeating useless bullshit conversations, and everyone is a sociopath except Kotonoha. Those games are easy to beat off to, but they're about worthless storywise. Summer Days is the worst offender there, though being able to fuck both the hot moms kind of balanced it out. Cross Days may be the most worthwhile on that front just because of all the unexpected twists.

No. Word has it that the site Erogedownload has arrangements lined up with at least two people who preordered the game, so it should be uploaded there within hours of being shipped to any of those people. It could still be a week or more away though, taking into account that the game is at least 10 GB and that those people might live in remote 3rd world countries with no reliable mail service and slow internet connections.
