Post your IP if you are hosting followed by world location (with continent and area is ok, I.E Western europe) and your own "tier" if you feel like to.

About the game:
(shamelessly copied from the wiki)
Touhou Hisoutensoku is the third fighting game in the Touhou Project and like its predecessors, Immaterial and Missing Power and Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, Touhou Hisoutensoku is a collaboration between ZUN and Twilight Frontier. Due to that collaboration, its art was drawn by Alphes and the music was composed by U2 Akiyama, both from Twilight Frontier.

Download link:

Hisoutensoku + 1.10 patch + english patch:
http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6424899/Touhou_Hisoutensoku_12.3___1.10___English_Patch

For playing online it's recommended to have the latest version, 1.10a which you can find the patches for here:

http://hisouten.koumakan.jp/

SWR + English patch:
http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6512402/Touhou_10.5_Scarlet_Weather_Rhapsody___ENG

Optionally there is also a Voice mod found here:
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Voice_Mod_for_SWR_and_Hisoutensoku

Before playing online please close any process that uses bandwith to avoid lag, also try to play with people close to your area if possible.

Also vote on this if you want.

It's not really about you being up to my level or not. Objectively, all matches are subtle teaching aides you use to improve your fighting routine. The result of the match is always the same, a player will get knocked out, but the process used to get to said knockout might always be different, which is what makes it interesting for me. I enjoy watching people play, new or old, because there might always be something new to learn from them.

...or something like that. You shouldn't worry too much about winning or losing, just enjoy the trip while it lasts. As for your Youmu, I don't really play her so I can't comment, but you seemed smart enough to exploit certain breaches and dash up to me at the right times. I saw a noticeable lack of Myon usage, but at least you're not one of those players that abuse the poor being like it's Youmu's only attack.

GG's yet again, Mr.Deracabia. Don't worry, if I didn't want you to join, I wouldn't have posted in the thread at all.

Still, I like your decks. They're so clean and functional, free of the taunt of spellcards. I wish I had a deck and character like that, it would definitely help me focus on the fight and not on the premise that you might screw up at some point for me to set said spellcards up. Really like your Reimu and Aya, I always wanted to learn Reimu but I seem to be too incompetent for that. Again, GG's!

...and now I'm going to sleep, my back hurts and it's late.

>> No.9232789

Oh, and really, please don't worry about joining. I just don't like stretching sessions for too long so I usually just cycle through the characters I have decks for a couple of times. But really, feel free to come anytime!

>> No.9232818

>>9232767
Oh, thank you very much!
Yeah, I think spellcards are cool and all, but playing without them seems to be more fun to me. I think that having at least one deck without relying on them must help learning to play with the character. There is the disadvantage of not dealing a big amount of damage in one blow, but on the other hand, you get to pay more attention to your attacks and how to execute them. That's my opinion, anyway.
If you want to try playing with one of them, their configuration is: 2 bombs, 4 grimoires, 2 ibuki gourds, 3 attacks with 4 cards each. and then you can modify it at you will, if you want.

>> No.9233333

>>9232752
Still hosting if anyone interested

>> No.9233641

>>9232818
Well the thing is, against good players, landing hitconfirms isn't very easy because they know how to go around simple gimmicks, and bullet spam won't get you any damage either. And at that point of the game, a hitconfirm will often lead to a knockdown 100% or not.. essentially speaking, 4~6 combos determine a game. And through that, spellcards are used to make that counter go a lot faster because with spellcards, it can sometimes make it a matter of 3~4 combos instead.

Grimoires are fine, but guords are debatable. They leave you too open. You're better off replacing those with soul torches/coins or something like that.

>> No.9233679

Am I the only one who doesn't like Grimoires? They speed up the recovery, but not the time it takes for your orbs to start recovering, which would be much better, in my opinion.

>> No.9233729

>>9233641
Well, I figured that deck or setting probably isn't that good... It is fun to me so I play with it. I have "somewhat of a skill" in the game because I played it for some time, but I can't understand it competitively or the metagame.
Hmm... I like the guords because I use them while using the 214 default from Reimu to defend myself, but yeah, against a more experienced opponent I don't even have time to breathe, let alone hide and activate cards, haha. But if I were to remove them from the deck, I think I would put Iku's scarf, I don't know...

>> No.9233737

I don't really like grimoires. They take up too much deck space and it's better to just have better spirit management.

Gourds are really good in keeping momentum if your character relies heavily on spellcard blockstrings and pressure. It allows you to get the cards you need fast.

Gourds only leave you open if you use it at a bad time. Need to limit your opponent and have some distance.

>> No.9233833

>>9233737

Regarding the hangeki, hangeki isn't as reliable as per say bomb and coin, but it definitely gives you a strong reversal. However, it's really easy to bait/react to. You're better off running those in matchup situations ie: Yukari (to make sure she cant free ran from every wheel), suwako (multi-hit meaties), etc. Run coins and bombs as well. Coin + BE is really effective in escaping. Bombs are hard to react to without losing your pressure trying to bait 24/7

>>9233729
Yeah this, definitely. Grimoires are a waste in your deck. You're better off forcing hail if you're so reliant on orb, but essentially speaking, your orb management shouldnt be going off to the point that you need grimoires.

Also, guords aren't very effective because all it takes is a snow force and you've lost all of what you tried to get in a nutshell. Most of the time, you're better off letting the meter rise on its own without any helps of guords because it wastes that much more space in your deck, when you could have been replacing that with another skillcard or spellcard.

To the player named "Amen", practice your typical BnBs. Also, block more and learn to BE. Try to not mash. Also learn stuff like low-blocking. That's why I kept on doing 2aaaa on Hong until you low-blocked. You didn't low-block that once. Besides that, I am very pleased to see that after all of those matches, you kept on playing. That's the type of motivation and willpower I'd look for in a Soku player. Keep on learning the basics, nail them down, and then come to me again. I'm sure you'll do much better next time for sure, man. Just keep practicing, and never give up.

If you're being cornered a lot, it's just a matter of understanding your matchups and what the other character is capable of. Once you see patterns, you'll start seeing "openings" and loopholes, then you can learn when to jump out, dash out, or Border Escape out of certain attacks during certain situations. I hope that makes sense. But that does take some experience, so you'll just have to keep playing against players that are of a much higher difficulty than yourself. You'll get better at that over time. Trust me. GGs.

Never really got "Mashing on blockstrings". Isn't a blockstring basically mashing against someones block?

Also, thanks for playing, it was fun, assbeating aside

>> No.9235637

>>9235609
No, I mean, you are mashing buttons while I'm attacking you, mainly yous top blocking and go f5a, that sometimes work if both opponents are bad, but it will never work on a good match. I won't tell you to don't mash 4a if you see an opening for it on corner, since there are character that are quite good getting out of pressure thanks to 4a (Okuu, Remilia, Reimu,etc...) but try not to do it much, also learn some BnBs from the wiki, and blocking on wake up is very importat unless your opponent is very far from you. By the way you aproach a lot by flying straight (D6) that won't get you anywhere most of the times, anyone can just DP you most of the times, try to put some bullet cover before approaching.

Well, I would imagine that the whole premise of the game rests on the multiplayer, like Soku, but the netcode for the game handles latency really badly which is very off-putting. Without a caster, there's really no interest to put effort into a translation for a game that nobody plays regularly.

That and you'll probably need to do some image editing for these, which is a little discouraging.

Man, I was never that great, you were much better than me at my "prime," as it were. But it's depressing to realize how far I've fallen. I think I landed my most basic combo twice during that entire hour, anything else that looked like a combo was "educated mashing". Well, generally for iku, you wanna prioritize on baiting. Thats where most of your damage comes from; her range lets you get so many random baits from stuff that shouldnt even be hitting that far lol. Her j.2A is your best friend. It's save on block and has absurd range, but it does require you to have some aerial control.

The other thing is her movement. Her movement is VERY crucial when using her correctly, because her j.A j.2A loop is one of her best assets, but it requires some massive grinding to pull off correctly. The rest.. her combos are piss easy. The main thing that you need with iku is the ability to bait and use your movement correctly.

>> No.9246450

GG thanks for the games. Try not to mash as much, since as you saw, a good player can practically lock you down in pressure, suwako or not (Hence why i proceeded to playing reimu, sakuya, and remilia as well), if you dont block and patiently look for openings. Mashing only works if the opponent makes many mistakes, but higher tier players wont really make as much and thus relying on it is not very ideal.

Your best bet tends to be either pre-emptive hj'ing, dashing, or border escaping. The suwako string that i did (I call it my autopilot string lol, but its j.A j.B j.6C loop) is REALLY bullet heavy, meaning you can probably get a lot of free hjs out of it. However, its airtight enough to stop mashers, and place them into a corner until the end of time.. until you block lol.

Usually, it's more of how i test the opponent during the first few games. If i know you can actually do some escaping, i rarely use that string. Gotta be a bit quick on noticing those or you'll get perfected without realizing it. haha

Oh and dont use spells randomly. If you dont combo them or use them in blockstrings/reversal, often times, its a complete waste + you're usually quite open.

But yeah, ggs nevertheless.

So i'm playing on a gamepad, using my analog.

Do you think i'd get more efficient if i switched to d-pad? I find it more uncomfortable, but i feel that it would be 'safer' when using skills.

Inb4 why not test instead of asking - my d-pad is broken at the moment (managed to break it while trying to repair a broken analog), and it'll be around 2 weeks before i get a new one.

Anyone here that played on both analog and d-pad and can elaborate?

I've been planning to switch to d-pad once i get the new pad. Though i gotta say - doing stuff like 623 or 214 is really easy on analog. On the other hand, the simplest of all - 22B/C is annoying. Since you have to push the analog down, wait for it to go up, then push it down again. I know this sounds trivial, but the delay is actually noticeable

Start with practicing some combos in training mode.
You like to spam 236 and 214 which is often not a good idea since on whiff or block it puts you on the defensive. They're really easy to bait out and see.

Work on zoning and pushing your opponent into the corner and learn blockstrings.

Remilia's movement and normals are really good and unpredictable which is why so often you got random hits on me. She's the character that can manipulate how you want your opponent to move and have a lot of safe stuff if used correctly.

Thanks, that's something to work with.
I have a lot of trouble pushing, especially against higher tier players than me: All of my attacks and jump-ins seem to get punished easily, so I rely on the Servant Flier to limit my opponents options somewhat.
As for the combos, I can do most of the BnBs, but I mostly have to be mentally prepared for anything more: If I land an attack that I didn't expect to connect, I have trouble following up even though I technically know what I'm supposed to do.
Do you know where I can look up some blockstrings for Remi? I can only pull of some mixups after 5AAA and hope the opponent guesses wrong or runs out of orbs, but nothing remotely airtight that forces BE like you did.

>> No.9256345

You usually wanna put pressure by abusing your 66 dash on the offensive. Mix it up between 66 j.2C j.66 j.A(A), 66 j.A, 66 j.AA, etc etc. Her movement allows her to keep some absurd pressure through that 66. Instead of always AAAing, add some 2A, 3A, 6A, etc while mixing up those hj strings above

Remilia has a lot of staggers. Get them to wrong block her f.5a, 6a, 3a etc. Catch jump outs with her j.2a. She can also drain spirit orbs with bullets such as her 5c and j.2c.

j.5a j.2c 66 j.2c 66 j.5aa land reset.. if they are too scared to border escape, if they BE they are out.
or
j.5a j.2c 66 j.2a ... etc <- string to catch someone if they are looking to BE the first j.2c

if you do a AAA 5C starter, cancel with either j.2a or j.2c. J.2c would help you in orb damage and j.2a will catch out a BE. Sometimes it is better to not cancel the 5c at all because it is not airtight and a forward BE can go through it. You can reset pressure if they are still blocking. If your opponent is always trying to go through your 5c, you have 236b to catch them.

Blockstrings are something that come naturally and something you can be creative with. Become unpredictable and your opponent will feel locked for the entire match.

Hope this helps.

>> No.9259190

>>9259168

ggs, though I'm not sure if you should be too happy, you are still mashing something on about every wakeup, I thought you'd realize it's a bad thing when you get hit almost every time, at one point I even started counting and you got hit out of 12 wakeups in a row do to you tring to mash melee and yet still on the 13th you tried it again, I did fail my spacing at that point though so you got out. The only reason you manage to hit your opponent at those times is that your opponent is making a mistake and it's not exactly healthy to rely on enemy failing too much.

I guess you were doing decent on the offense side, there was a lot of overcommitting though, j.6A is not exactly the safest move to whiff nor is 66C
It would be good to start considering the downtimes on your moves too. There was a lack of pressure too but I have very faint idea about Okuu pressure myself so I can't help with that

Tl;dr version
Decent offense, more thought into when the not attack, try to get some pressure to pin opponent down.
