This kind of technology is not exactly too farfetched. We could potentially induce a Lucid Coma in someone, or something similar... giving them control of their own dream world and sustaining their physical body inside machines.

Of course, that's not the only possibility. There are other solutions as well... virtual worlds, even massive virtual realities where thousands of people can "live"

If someone were to present to you an opportunity to enter The Matrix, whether it be a virtual world for multiple people or your own personal dream world, would you do it?

The catch, of course, is that once you enter The Matrix, you can never leave again. And similarly if you turn down this offer, you will never be offered it again.

Would you?

The idea of living in a perfect virtual world of course endears me. But if it's a virtual world I'd need to have some control on it to make my dreams a reality, else what's the fucking point?

The world of the Matrix, for example, is basically the same shit we live in, not really that appealing of you ask me and people are not allowed to choose their avatars which is probably the main reason I'd get into a virtual world in the first place.

Lucid coma seems an oxymoron to me. You can't be in a coma and conscious at the same time. As for lucid dreams, they exist, but... they're just dreams, a dream is never as vivid as reality, albeit it can get close to that.

What you should focus on first would be a perfect man-machine interface. I think that's the biggest obstacle.

But anon, you're already in the Matrix, a perfect world where happiness can exist due the contrast with the imperfections, if you resign from the nature and the laws that created the world you're contained in is similar to reject your humanity.

Human mind has been forged to seek heaven but never find it, it that heaven was given to you, well, it's the true end o the line.

Think about it, in the immensity of time, of all places of universe, you were born in the middle of the information age of a intelligent race who just happen to have information to most physical phenomena in their range along with extensive reports of successes, that, for a cognitive creature, is the most close thing to heaven that can be grasped.

Do you really think it's all a coincidence?

It's, your mind couldn't think otherwise unless you're crazy but, you know, no crazy man embraces his madness, he extrapolates it to other “crazy” people flooding his truths with theirs.

2+2=4

It's right? It is, but now I ask, what's 2? and 4? and “=”?
Those are symbols, is not what they are, it's what they represent

What they represent? The represent stacks of the unit, the “1”.

Here comes the question, what's 1? One is one, it's something delimited, it's a singularity, alone, unique. Those are nice adjectives, but I still didn't say what's “1”

Not complex, it's not, really, one it's just a bunch of limits, one is something ends and other starts, where you cut, delimit and create something existent.

One is, overall, the nature of God capable of defining what belongs and how to the universe where you're trapped in, you should bow to “her.”

honk honk

The one thing that keeps me going is the chance that I'll live just long enough for technology to allow me to put my brain in a jar and live eternally in a computer simulation.

Who needs machines? All you need is the right chemicals to induce a dreamlike trance. The only need for machines to be involved is when you want to have a simultaneous experience with multiple people.

I wonder how long a brain could actually live if you remove it from the body. Or more specifically, I wonder if brains are bound to degenerate in time and the only reason not everyone gets alzheimer is because their bodies fail first.

>> No.9191210

I believe all organic matter is bound to degenerate. I read about it once, basically by functioning, it's bound to die at some point. So my biggest worry is whether we get the technology to counter this before I die.

If not, I'll have to seriously look into cryonics. I really don't want to die before I can fulfill all of my dreams. Death is way too scary.
