/v/ here.
I thought we were bad, but damn, this place...
godammit it's awful.

>> No.9188742

It's sublime. The shitposting has transcended shitposting and become something much more.

This man has the right of it.

I saw /tg/ when it was worst. It has mostly recovered.
I saw /v/ when it was worst. It will never recover.
I saw /b/ when it was worst. It ceased to exist, and only a hollow shell remains.

But /jp/ is truly in a league of its own. Why Moot doesn't rename it /th/ - Touhou (or simply remove it entirely), I'll never know.

/vg/ is like communism, you can talk about games without shitposting, but only games, no off topic.
It feels like talking to robots.

>sence
I'm going to let you off with a warning, since your opinion holds. /vg/ manages to stay on topic more of the time than /v/. For that feat alone, it's commendable...not many boards on 4chan do so. Threads on /jp/ barely even have topics in the first place:

>Madoka a feet
>Sanae a slut
>which 2hu wud u fuq
>no replies
>why is she so perfect?

Pray tell, how do these relate to otaku culture at all? All otakus are insufferable, but not all otakus have a single-digit IQ as most threads on /jp/ would suggest.

/vg/ is an abomination to image board posting structure. Long term discussions about single subjects were always meant for the text boards but it seems everyone just forgot about that, including poopykins.. This whole 'general' fad should never have been encouraged, there's a good fucking reason as to why we only have 15 pages and threads tend to 404 after a day or two.

i'd rather chop off my own dick than post on a board like /vg/ unironically.

>Waaah you can only talk about videogames in a videogames board

/v/ was terrible with the amazing amount of shitposts, not restricting to but including ebin xD, le reddit shit, dubs, thanks doc and crap like that, it still has to this day (although iirc doubles were replaced by saying 5 and getting a 5).

/vg/ may only talk about games but hell if you want to talk about anything else, there are 20+ boards to do it, /b/,/soc/,/pol/, pick your poison, just don't go on /v/ because "hurrr i wanna talk about politics, uhhh /pol/? NO. /b/ ? NO. /v/? UHHHH click".

/vg/ treats /v/ like shit because of such things and /v/ treats /vg/ like shit because it actually focus on video games.

What's with all of this stupid board overlap lately? I realize it probably has something to do with the whole Katawa Shoujo shitstorm as well as /jp/ being briefly mentioned in that /v/ sticky and listed alongside /vg/ on foolz but this is just too much!
Traffic to /jp/ has almost doubled in the past year...

>> No.9188987

we should have a separate board for otaku generals. then all the NEET, doll, and idol threads can go there and we won't have to see them here

I love touhou and videogames

/v/ talks about vidya
/jp/ shits out posts regarding touhou

>> No.9189050

I think it's the third time I've said this on /jp/, but while I was checking /v/ for e3 news and they were all being overdramatic about videogames being dead, many /v/-goers said they were gonna migrate to /jp/ because it's a relaxed place with a lot of cool memes where they can post whatever they want, with the only downside being the fact /jp/ is so slow.

>This whole 'general' fad
It still sort of bothers me that people call the things "generals".
Despite the name, /vg/ wasn't made for "generals". Everyone liked the idea of generals. It just means that less redundant duplicate threads are made, and it makes it easier to follow a certain topic etc.
What people had a problem with was "chain threads", or rather the idea of having chain threads up at all times.

A thread can be a general topic thread without being a chain thread.
And a thread can be a chain thread without being a general thread.

While the ideas can overlap, they are in no way the same.
/vg/ was always about ever repeating chain threads, and even if you scrap the ever repeating bit, it's still about chain threads and not general threads.

But everyone have already decided for some nonensical reason that it's about "general threads". Likely because it's what everyone wrote as the thread subjects, but that doesn't mean it makes the whole thing more logically sound.
