I'm afraid I might not make it.

For the first time in a while I've been looking back at some of the choices I made. I don't mean dissatisfaction with living as a NEET, but rather running from certain problems instead of dealing with them, and maybe I could have balanced my budget a little better, things like that.
I've been thinking about trying to get my life in a little bit more order. Maybe moving out and getting my own little dump to lay around naked in, off of my autism bucks. Maybe take better care of my health. With my own kitchen, the only excuse I'd have is laziness, so I could probably eat better too.

I know that won't happen, though. Every time I've tried stepping out from my sheltered life I've been met with shit I just wasn't prepared for. Instead I'll just sit here, and every night think to myself, another year isn't so long. I'm still young enough. There are so many nice things I'd like to have. Staying another month won't hurt me, and then I can start saving up. This really is the only path, after all.

My face when I found that this thread was nice. It's these moments I look most forward to when browsing. Thanks, /jp.

It seems like those, Touhou and fighting games are all /jp/ plays.
I, on the other hand, spend most of my time emulating old stuff with maybe the odd DS or PSP game. So I'd have nothing to talk about with any of you.

It seems that in every thread where some brave /jp/ers start to exchange emails etc., I try to as well, but I chicken out at the very last minute because I'm afraid I won't have any hobbies in common with them and they'll dislike me. Well, also because anything past the anonymous stage is frightening.

As long as the two people emailing each other use aliases and don't reveal personal details, it's still pretty much anonymous. And it's not as bad as an IRC circle jerk because, well, only two people are involved. If everything is done right, it can't spill over anywhere and cause problems.

Myself, I doubt I could hold a decent conversation. I have a variety of interests, but I don't specialize in any of them. If I tried to discuss any one of the topics with someone who enjoyed it, I'd look like a "secondary" or a "casual" or something.

That's what I feel my problem is. Instead of really getting into something in the way that some people get into Touhou or visual novels, I get into a relatively large number of things, but not to the extent where I would even call myself a real "fan". Even when lurking in related threads to whatever I'm doing, the average posters seem so knowledgeable and makes me too scared to join in.

I think it's because when you're answering the phone you can't be 100% certain about who is on the other end. I don't even have caller ID so it's a mystery when it rings.

What really upsets me is when a telemarketer calls and it's a real person. I don't want to talk but I don't want to hang up because they're just doing their job, and it makes me sad because I feel like I'm wasting their time.

For me, besides the usual anxiety about talking to people, I really think my voice sounds strange when on the phone, recorded, etc. I can't tell myself, but when I was younger some people said I had a lisp. Also, it's not like my voice is exactly squeaky, but it is definitely be considered feminine. I know that some people may consider that a plus, especially in mmorpgs with some form of voice chat, but I get nervous when lying or holding back something.

I'm glad texting exists, so any quick messages to anyone can be typed out and forgotten about. Another reason I won't have a landline. Until I can text on one, I refuse to have one.
