I know a few anons have said what happened to mediafire so far, but what day did this happen? Details?

I'm really bummed that I can no longer google 'site:mediafire.com item'. How did google remove tens of thousands of direct links so fast?

What alternatives are there now? Is there a file sharing place for /jp/ stuff now that mediafire has shit the bed? Comiket, reitaisai, etc

It seems bing only a bit better (10 results?) and using duckduckgo brings a lot more results, but still not as much as google used to.

Well, at least the files themselves aren't deleted. I think

Most files are still around. Checking my firefox history and opening old mediafire links, they still work.

Sad how mediafire is turning to shit, I think they got scared after the whole thing with megaupload

Ah yeah I remember mediafire getting a 'facelift' ages ago, near to the megaupload debacle.

My question more was, when did google start removing mediafire results from searches?

Search with ixquick instead of Google.

So that's why I haven't been able to find fucking anything!
Well, fuck them too!

I'll keep stockpiling everything, and have the most comprehensive archive ever! Then when the internet is gone, and only facebook remains, I can continue to touch myself to cartoons and such.

Google gets 250000 search result take down requests each week.

Just google "mediafire item". You'll get some shitty forum, but it will probably have the links you need.

Don't give me that space lizard shit.
I'm going to spend every cent of my autism bucks I get this year on setting up as many hard drives as I can conceivably jam into the biggest case or cases I can find, and there's nothing you can do to stop me.

/jp/ might even benefit from my ridiculous archive if I'm a good mood at the time.

It's on Mediafire's part. They either requested to be removed from indexing by major search engines, or have done it themselves; all because of the government beginning to police the internet after that MU event.

You must be GNU here.

/g/ here, why is this board called /jp/ anyway? The fact that it doesn't really agree with the board content or “Otaku Culture” makes it seem like there's really no central idea to /jp/ and that it's just a way of getting content most people don't like off /a/.

You answered your own question. /jp/ was made to take all the touhou and VN shit off /a/. However, the board quickly got bored of their own hobbies and has no pretty much devolved into constant shitposting.

It truly is the worst board on 4chan.

>> No.9159712

>>9159699

/g/ is a useless board in that very few on there have any real in-depth knowledge about technology, aside from how to slot some components together to build a super cool 'rig'.

>> No.9159713

Actually, this is probably a good thing for uploaders. Doujins and shit won't be DCMA'd by people googling. I can finally re-upload shit that was taken down before.

Also, we need to make a single well-organized folder. that might help.

>Actually, this is probably a good thing for uploaders. Doujins and shit won't be DCMA'd by people googling.

Yeah, if it's just being removed from the google index, I see it as a good thing. Means you just have to find the source of the content somehow, rather than simply google searching.

>> No.9159741

It just means that you'll have to get your information from more fragmented sources than Google, the All-Seeing All-Knowing Eye of Power.

Compared to something like MegaUpload going down this is a drop in the ocean. The only fallout I can really see from this is a gigantic increase in /r/equests which will probably be offset because more links stay alive anyway.

>> No.9159744

>>9159716

Yet there was a straight answer right in the first reply.

It didn't get bad until a person from /jp/ started shitting things up.
