Neets 'lack skills needed for first jobs'

>"We know that if young people haven't got on to the first rung of the job ladder by 24, they will suffer the consequences for the rest of their lives," said Shaks Ghosh, chief executive of the Private Equity Foundation, which supports the report.

>"Some will never work. That's why this research is so shocking.

>"Many Neet young people face a Catch-22. They don't have the so-called 'soft skills' employers are looking for, but often the only opportunity to learn those skills is on the job," he said.

Are people really this retarded? Getting a job isn't just about your qualification. It's about how confident you are about being able to do the job, and the qualification is either mandatory or beneficial and how experienced you are at dealing with things. When you get interviewed for a job, or when they read your C.V. they care just as much about how much of a dicklord you are as well. The qualifications are just a checklist, and the buzzwords they look for make it stand out more. They look at your personal section, and they ask you about yourself.

Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine you are the manager of a company and some fucking neckbeard walks in to the room stinking of cheap deodorant and talks like a stoner and when asked about his personal hobbies he shrugs and says he likes music and going out on the weekend partying. Does he sound like a tool?

Or if some doctorate applies for a job but he's got a really weird vibe and talks to you abruptly and you can't see him fitting in well, would you hire him?

TL;DR places that hire employees are like /jp/. You don't hire people that you don't get along well with. If you think they won't be able to take it easy, then they aren't going to get a job. You need to check off the boxes of what they are looking for, and be friendly, open and confident and good at communicating. Having interesting hobbies is a bonus.

P.S. It isn't all bad, there are actually places that ONLY employ people with assburgers. Their reasoning is that they are very conscientious and methodical and don't slack. They come in, do their jobs (very well), and leave and there is literally no drama to deal with. They are specialized with understanding and working with them.

>> No.9155737

Why dont they fucking realize that in order to have experience you need to get the experience before hand. How else will I fucking get that.

I put in called and I apply everywhere and I still have not gotten any calls back.

Yes, but this excuse doesn't really wash if you are willing to work at getting a job.

Getting a job without experience is kind of like when you're driving and trying to turn on to a main road but you're at a stop because the traffic is too fast to give you a gap to get inside. You can either wait around a long time until a space comes along, or you can keep trying to edge yourself out and then when someone eventually slows down to let you out, you thank them and then you both carry on driving. Everybody is trying to climb the ladder, and sometimes people need a helping hand. If you aren't an asshole and try to make a good impression and are willing to learn, many people would be willing to give you a helping hand. I got my last job even though I didn't meet the half of the technical requirements. I still did my job as best as I could, and didn't slack off.

It might look retarded but there are reasons behind everything. Even those stupid questions that are sometimes on forms that you have to fill out. They lay out hoops for people to jump through, in order to narrow down their search. You'd do the same thing too.

What are the criteria for /jp/?
>don't be from /a/
>don't be a /b/tard
>take it easy

Theirs are
>must not be a retard
>must be eager enough about wanting the job that he passes our stupid tests and calls our office to enquire about the outcome of interviews
>must have skills and willingness to learn
>take it easy

>>9155743
No, I'm not saying that. Your negative mentality is stopping you from reading between the lines. You don't have to be charming. If you can't improve your social skills or communication then you might struggle, but that doesn't mean that you will never find work. You could work from home, or get help in looking or even work at places that only employ assburgers.

If you want to improve yourself, work on your social skills, either through reading, practice or meetups. You can get help from anywhere. Government schemes, forum groups, organized local walks/bike rides, charity-funded confidence/communication courses. Anything that will help you be more comfortable talking with and being around people.

Not everybody is out to get you. Nobody is interested in putting you in a box. The more that you project what you think people do on to others, the more you believe that is what they think.

How did you even go to University if you don't have social skills? You had to have an interview right? It just sounds like you're being overly negative and trying to convince yourself that you can't do things, because maybe it's easier than believing that you can.

Seems to me that you're either trolling or your mental health isn't too great. Again, you can get help with that.

To you guys who complain about having to act "normal" at an interview:

Stop having so much pride about your social anxiety and awkwardness and put those aside. Just copy how alpha normalfags act for the short hour or so period. Be a manipulative fucker who can get people to believe in your competence. Lie through your teeth when they ask about your personal life. Cheating like this is the best way to get back at the normals.

I wish you the best of luck, anon.

I'm sure that you're really a fine catch to any employer. If you could, please take a few minutes to educate me in the ways that I am wrong. For example, I say that nobody likes dealing with drama at work, and an open and friendly work environment is beneficial to everybody, but you seem to add another layer of depth to this subject that completely baffles me. What is this about coffee machines? Is this some kind of evolution of taking it easy, whereby people who are encouraged by not having negative personality traits all somehow spend all of their working time at a 'coffee machine' and talking at it?

>That's rich coming from you when the guy you're talking with actually has the qualifications and you just admitted you didn't have them all and basically got in on 'charms' alone
No, it was not a qualification, it was a technical requirement that I did not meet. I actually met 50% of it, and the other 50% was a skill that I learned over the space of a week of employment, which was the induction period anyway. It was my intelligence, willingness to learn and my frankness and openness at my interview that got me the job. I took it easy while working, and everybody was happy.

Of course, when I say this I'm lying right? I'm obviously a charming motherfucker and had sex with the person that interviewed me and told them that I like football and top 40 pop music and being romantic with bitches 24/7.

Please respond with why I'm wrong, thank you.

You're right, confidence is not a lie. However, there's a differencing between having confidence and acting confident. If you're just not very expressive socially, "being confident" will feel like an act and a lie, even if you actually are confident in your ability to do whatever it is they want you to do.

In fact, a lot of socializing comes to have that "I'm just putting this on" feeling.

Yeah but if you know any employers, managers, etc. They tell you that it's important that the person is able to 'fit in'. It doesn't mean they want you to be "a normal", it means just able to communicate well, do your job properly, be willing to learn and not cause drama. I know a regional manager of a company and others who search for candidates and basically refine their searches through C.V.s by looking for anything interesting in the personal section to see if anything stands out above the rest. Things like 'going out at the weekend, and watching football' isn't nearly as interesting as being a volunteer at charity, painting, singing and collecting niche art and studying Japanese, for example. They don't necessarily judge you on your hobbies, but which one of those are likely to catch your attention?

You are very correct, that most confidence is an act, but it does work, doesn't it? I think that true confidence is more useful, if you appreciate your abilities. You don't need to lie about them at all. HR departments sounds shitty, where people discuss you and talk about you and need to hear buzzwords. Some places are like that, for example telemarketing companies. I had one once where there was a phone interview, and none of the things I was saying about procedure were fitting their checklist as they were asking the questions. It happens sometimes.

To also put more perspective in this, I've known people with solid managerial experience to send out hundreds of applications in the post and get a small handful of replies. It is very competitive these days. Older people are even having to go back to study things and retrain because of the state of the job market.

I'm someone who went from socially awkward NEET/hikki to having a full time job thanks to some string pulling from my grandpa.

When I first started, it was difficult. I didn't understand why people tried talking to me, or why I was promoted to have friends in the workplace. It took a few months, but I eventually opened upto my co-workers and now I understand. I can't really put it into words, but, it's very important you seem like someone other co-workers will like to be around.

And, just so you guys know, it's no secret I'm an otaku. My co-workers know I watch anime, collect figurines, go to conventions, masturbate to hentai, and am a virgin. A few are genuinely interested, and ask me questions about it. Some have even seen my room and thought it was cool, my figurines were artistic, ect.

Sure, there's a joke every so often, and I used to take them to heart, but you realize they joke about everything and really don't give a shit at the end of the day.

That's what's important: adaptability. You can't have some atfitude that you're perfect and don't need to change. We can all stand to improve ourselves, and knowing you have to without being negative about it is the key.

the problem is that employers have too much power vis-a-vis employees, so even if they get hired the employees are working for less money and longer hours than they could otherwise be
it's not supposed to be like this, but the Man shuts down anyone who doesn't or can't pay his protection fees, which means the small players are nonexistent and the big ones run the show
this is a problem pretty much everywhere in the West right now, and no matter how bad it gets nothing ever seems to get done about it. The situation is a result of too high unemployment.

You need someone to do the job but can't find anyone? You'll take the mumbling aspie who finally send you his application.

There are 50 applicants, who're all qualified to do the job you need them to do? You can afford to filter more people out and hire not just someone who can do what you ask, but is also friendly, social and pleasant to be around.

That being said, you have to understand that companies rather employ someone who performs 90% but is a swell guy and good teamworker instead of someone who does 100% but is socially inept and can't communicate. That's just common sense.

I've looked into Thailand quite a bit. Are you sure about $15/mo? Even for the smallest place in a reasonably safe location, that sounds too good to be true. I'm not saying you're wrong. I've seen prices ranging from $100-500, obviously with ascending degrees of quality. Either way, I don't have the money to relocate right now. That and I'd have to come back to take care of my dad since he's getting older. A lifetime of indoctrinated guilt means I can't just say "fuck it" either, and there's nobody else to do it.
