Seconding underwater. Lots of mythology and interesting characters to be had. Of course Gensokyo has no oceans, but I'm sure Stage 6 Boss could create one and cause an incident.

Alternatively, I'd like to see something a little more weird. Like Reimu and the gang go to the Surreal Psychedelic Dimension (game title) and battle abstract patterns while we go blind.

You can play as all of the EX bosses. The whole game consists of Reimu and Marisa repeatedly challenging you until you lose. Then you have to listen to them gloating about it.

Wouldn't the fun be to just see what bizarre movements the AI would manage to avoid your insane barrages or danmaku, or either try to discover ways, even if glitches and bugs, to hit her? Or maybe you just need a fucking lot of autism to put your time into it.

Anyway, I think a way of making your own danmaku could be cool by itself.

Next game will be about Maribel and Renko finding her way into gensokyo but trying to run away because youkai aren't kind to outsiders. They have no shots and only one bomb. The final boss is Yukari, who will give them a ride back to the outside world if they win. Extra stage has Marisa as mid-boss and Reimu as the boss.

Crazy idea.

13.5 = Touhou brick breaker. You play as Raymoo and shoot your yinyang at various youkai, bouncing it back and not letting it fall. Boss stages would have little versions of the boss with a huge boss whose danmaku you'd have to avoid while making sure to not let the yinyang fall. Google brick breaker if you've never played it.

14 = New male touhous.
