Some days it feels as if I was the only one that's been here since the split. Not that it makes a difference, the date you started posting doesn't affect the kind of poster that you are.
It feels lonely at times. Like seeing all your friends moving out for some reason, not telling you where they are going and now you are stuck in an old building with overgrown weeds everywhere, with a bunch of people that share your interests, but just weren't there to have the same experiences.

But then I remember it's silly to worry about this things. Most if not all are anonymous, of course you wouldn't notice them.

That's because people HAVE left. Look at the archives from 2008/2009. Still shitposting, but also considerably more intelligence.

I blame it on social networking becoming ridiculously pervasive. Everyone thinks they have some kind of god-given right to have their say on every single topic, because twitter or fagbook or whatever it is has encouraged them to spread their thoughts every 5 seconds. Notice all the neo-/jp/ tripfaggots were involved in that godawful formspring circlejerk a while ago. It's that sort of mentality we're dealing with on 4chan today.

I prefer to blame the shifting board sensibilities than some unseen massive migration.
The board overall just became more tolerant of shitposting and with little resistance it became the norm. New people flowing in might have had a hand on that, but it just can't be the sole reason.

Rather than just letting this shit thread be what it is, or having it descend into endless arguments of "/jp/ has been become more shitty over time"

Why not remember the good times you've had, or the good that has come out of /jp/? I was the guy who paid autismbux and delivered in this thread on a whim http://fuuka.warosu.org/jp/thread/S1306499 and it has gained me a regular tabletop group that's lasted to this day. Hah, I had forgotten about this idea.

2008 sure was fun, there was just so much creativity going around. Ideas and projects were everywhere. And even if in the end it turned into something so big it was overtaking the board with spam, CYOA threads were one of the best parts of early /jp/

Am I the only one that hates recognizing their own posts in an old thread? If it's not embarrassment at some stupid shit you said, then it's that feeling that comes from reading a post, agreeing with such an insightful and agreeable poster, just to realize it was you all along

Even I, though I still come here, have slowly started getting my life back on track.

/jp/ is a good place if you're lonely, lost and feel like you have no place you belong in, but it's not somewhere you can stay forever.

It's not a place you SHOULD stay forever.

Once you used it for support at the lowest point of your life, it's time to start thinking about leaving it behind.

Godspeed.

It's just too sad to think of all the artists we have lost over the years. Cowhou anon was wonderful. Dan Kim ran some really fun threads. I don't think there's anyone left in the OCT that actually shows up in the old list

Spending a lot of time on the archive, what makes me sad is obscure tripcode users.

There are so many tripfags who had brief bursts of activity between 2008-2010 in particular, then just disappeared.

The worst part is, though, no one remembers them. They never get mentioned. Bear in mind, I'm not talking about shitposters who adopt a trip for a month or two to try to make a name for themselves. A lot of them weren't bad. Many of them were fun and contributed well to /jp/. At the very least, they tried to.

Mind you... even if they were bad, I'd still wonder... where did they all leave to so suddenly?

I don't really remember those times, but everytime I go lurk on 2008 threads, I just see a lot, a lot of Touhou threads. But this amount of shitposting? No, I do not see it. I just see a united /jp/ with a board culture. Is the board culture shitty? Yeah, pretty much. But it's still much better than what we have today. Much better.

>> No.9139907

>>9139880
Then clean your home up and make it look nice. Instead of judging people on the amount of time they've been here, judge them on the qualities of their posts instead. You may very well could be planting the seeds of a what is soon to be a very good anon.

The shit threads that constantly litter the front page? Don't reply to them at all. Even if you reply and sage, you still give the poster attention, which is why they keep doing it.

Start organizing /jp/ events and stuff you guys like to do. If you sit around simply waiting for somebody else to do it, you're going to be waiting a long time.

It happened in phases, if I remember correctly. At the start there were still quite a few that held on to /a/ mentality, a bit later we started getting huge tripnerd circlejerks with other shitposters trying to stir drama between them, then K-ON and Railgun happened.

>> No.9139922

>>9139866
Most people shed the tripcode and continue contributing as anonymous. It's just not worth the effort, specially when there are no good examples left. Haven't seen a good poster with a tripcode in ages. Yeah, that includes me. Pretty shameful to see how it turned into a "hey guys, remember me!?" thing reserved for meta and awful shit.

In that sense it's better to have old, good tripcode users to just fade away, even if it means less recognizable faces.

So, that's my theory. They figured the tripcode thing didn't work for them and went back to posting as anonymous.

>> No.9139935

>>9139928
I am doing something to help create new times. I believe as much as you do that we should all keep walking and create good threads, discuss in a decent way, and be able to enjoy the board together. Forget these ridiculous dramas that we've had over 2012, and just try to get along. I've created a few succesful threads over this month and the past, but if you guys pay attention to threads that are off topic or have nothing to do with the board, it can't be helped. I do what I can. And on a side note, what I have noticed is that it doesn't matter how many times we have a janitor, the only ones that can change the board are us. Or a moderator, on a distant and unlikely future.

>> No.9139936

I only visit /jp/ now and then to read the NEET threads. I have never been posting much, even years ago. Otherwise I hang around /bun/ a lot. For me, it's like a mature /jp/ for all those who have somehow moved on from imageboard culture but still like to quietly hang around their old friends just to appreciate the sense of past unison.

>> No.9139940

>>9139928
I don't do either of those, but I don't see how you'd stop an anonymous poster from legitimately enjoying shitposting all he wants. It's gonna happen regardless, every board has posters like this. At most you can ignore them and that doesn't help when autism is involved.

>> No.9139954

Because I'm tired. Been in meta and "how can we save /jp/" threads for years now and it never goes anywhere.
I don't reply to shitpost threads hoping that I can be part of starving them out. I report them so whatever meido is active that season can clean them. And I respect the new posters, a lot. It's easy to see they make the effort to adapt and learn so they can contribute back. Like I said before, the date you joined doesn't affect the kind of poster you become.
But I guess it's easier to join in and shitpost if all you see in the front page are shitty threads. You might think such threads are the board culture and adapt to that. That's what I'm afraid new people think, and I hope they know better.
