Though to be honest I feel like Ikoi is Joker, or at least a henchman. She's probably the one that stabbed all the people to death after the train derailment. Not to mention she was missing during the first day, everyone else woke up in the classroom except for her.

Anyway I'm interested in how the battle royale turns out. I can't see how they can whittle down 300+ participants into a manageable size in a timely manner. But I guess they won't, it probably won't turn into a last man standing scenario since protag and friends aren't really interested in playing the game and they don't have collar bombs or something similar that would force them to play the game.

Playing Tsuyokiss right now, just finished with crab's route. I guess if its gonna be silly might as well take it up a notch and not like other games trying to suddenly make up inconsequential drama and end it abruptly during individual routes. Hell, it tried to keep up the humor even through eroscenes, which was just weird at times but sometimes awesome. Didn't expect the latter half to be almost entirely flirting either. I guess overall it was enjoyable, but I wonder about other heroines... or the sequels. What does /jp/ think about Tsuyokiss, or its sequels? Which ones are worth playing if any?

I've been reminiscing about Muramasa lately, even considering buying it (though I'd like to have some alternatives to J-List), and I found myself having trouble summing up the reasons I love it so much. There is simply too much stuff going on about it, and just describing all the scenes I liked doesn't do it JUSTICE. How would you recommend it to someone from the plot standpoint (the production values are obvious enough)?

How well did it end? If it's got a good ending, that does a lot. If it's got an incredible ending, that does more.

Some games are worth playing just for the ending.

Also, what's it about? From a thematic standpoint, that is. And how are the characters? These are the kinds of things that I look for in a good story.

Yes but this isn't your average rape game. If the protag has affection for heroine, and said heroine gets fucked by other guys besides the protagonist during the game, that's NTR, rape or not. Look at the NTR thread on 2ch for a proper definition. Hell, Joker is listed there.

She was pretty jealous and threatened to kill Rei if he made a "mistake". I think she helped Wako to put Rei out of danger and pushed Wako back to her osananajimi so she wouldn't have competition.

And speaking of Wako-chan-san, I think she's a secret unlockable heroine. She's featured way too prominently to be a throwaway character. Not only is she in the cover art, she has her own option in the config scene (with a tachi-e we're never shown ingame). That's a bit too much for a throwaway character that dies by the end of the first chapter. Personally I think she is the girl in Rei's flashback. It flashes way too fast in the trial but you can see it clearly in the trailer. That girl has red eyes, same as Wako. Ikoi has brown eyes, not to mention Rei said that Ikoi is dyeing her hair brown, her hair is originally white.

Hmm, well let's see. I wouldn't say that it got a proper good ending, but it does conclude all its main points and ideas perfectly. It's more about the journey than the destination, I guess. I especially like the way it uses the dead ends, which basically answer your "But what if" questions about the motivation and the choices that the characters make.

The main themes of the game, in my opinion, are the morality of taking someone's life and the subjectivity of good and evil. I guess those are not that original, but it was Muramasa that delivered these ideas to me before other literary works did, and that made it all the more impressive.

And the characters are, without a single exception, a very likable bunch. Though the whole tone of the VN makes it very difficult to call anyone "likable". At the very least, they have depth, and I value that higher than whether some heroine fits my fetishes or not.

On the subject of Muramasa, am I the only one who thought it was weird how the game never really got too deep into the relationship between Muramasa and her mother?
I mean it really feels like there should've been more to it. Every other main character's motivation is hugely affected by some father/mother figure, so it seems strange that more time wasn't devoted to exploring this. It's even half way set-up too, but they never really go anywhere with it.

Maybe it was hard to find a good opportunity, since in most of the scenes they have together, the focus is supposed to be on other things? Maybe the whole lack was just to emphasize Muramasa II's emotional distance?
I don't know, it's just always felt kind of weird to me.

I'm playing Other Life Azure Dreams. I own the game now in both English and Japanese. After a few weeks of playing a bit here and there I still haven't learned how to THROW items. It's terribly important especially since I'm on the level with Balrogs and need to feed them junk to get good items like Training Wands. I know how to do it in the English version but the Japanese version has different controls.

I'll have to disagree. While they are brought up several times and dealt with appropriately as well, they're not the central themes of the game, which is accepting/coming to terms with pure facts/reality.

It takes Kageaki running away from it for him to get with the other two heroines, who themselves are running away/mistaken about certain other things. Strangely enough, it's Kageaki that shows the errors of their ways - well, not in the sense that what they're doing is wrong/evil - but the fact that their own outlook on things were mistaken. And it's just wonderful that both Ichijou and Kanae show such contrasting methods of coming to terms with reality. And I don't think I even need to mention what Kageaki comes to terms with in the true route and epilogue.

I want to type up more of my thoughts on this matter and why Hikaru and Sorimachi are such great characters but I just woke up and am sorely lacking the means to express myself.

Of course, all of this is just my opinion and you're free to disagree - it just goes to show that we have extremely different outlooks on the game.

So I got tired and decided to start up The Queen of Witches in KuruKuru PSS.

as for Wako, yeah agree that there probably is something more to her. the wordings they use to descripe her end are way too roundabout and it's never outright stated she was killed at the end either. this sentence (pic) would imply her living too that she would return but not as her old self, way too abstract to just mean she will be raped and killed. as for that CG you mentioned, possible, but it also has funky lightning in it that distorts the coloring bit, mainy grey/red. so it still could be Ikoi as the hair seems to be pale grey (which is most often used as white hair) altough it could just be due to the effect too and the red glow could easily make brown eyes look red. but have to wait for full game to see how it ends up being, but it would be cool if Wako would be hidden heroine, also I kinda liked her and wanted to give her a hug or something at the end to comfort her

It's very...uneventful. It has a really awesome setting with interesting ideas, a protag who suffers from alexithymia and there are a couple of moments that make you think "shit is going to hit the fan hard" but that never happens. Just completely finished all the routes. It's a certainly a good unique story, I'm impressed how the h-scene played an important role in the development of the said story.

Of course not, why would they make a VN with a notebook resolution. But having a 1280x720 window almost fill out the screen is annoying so I just go with slightly blurry fullscreen.
I gave this a try because I liked Mirai Nostalgia. I'm still in the common route so I have no idea how the game holds up once the serious drama starts showing up in the character routes but I like the humor so far and most of the heroines are very likable.
Also, it feels like this game and Grisaia share like, half their VAs.

Just because it is a 'suicide mission' does not mean all the heroines have to die. Takeru and Kasumi survived. Why? Because Takeru is the protag and can't die, and Kasumi is a cute loli so she can't die either. Not that suicidal then is it? It didn't help that Takeru himself was almost completely useless in the final mission, so much for all his skill at piloting. The deaths were there for plain shock value. And the deaths throughout the game slowly lost impact on me when they so nonchalantly killed off character after character. It eventually just became a game of guessing who will die next.

I think the real problem here is that after so many "shocking" scenes with clearly manipulative writing, and considering that the rest of the dialogue and so is incredibly badly written, it's hard to take the game seriously even if in concept it has something going. I'm convinced that despite any thematic successes, the writer was intending to manipulate and shock.

Basically you're trying to protect a girl (no surprise there) from people trying to kidnap her, while investigating a drug chain and rape/murders.
