For whoever does the shit with the spreadsheet, N-Tone/DB49 album is chillout trance/house, Sound Online is rock/electronic, and Hachimitsu-Lemon is rock/pop.

AE's SANA and Alstro are both fucking amazing. Are any of those rock/pop albums very good? The two I listed above were decent, but I heard better from C81.

I'm sure the rest of the popular ones will get uploaded eventually. I just hope not everyone overlooked Attrielectrock, DiGi WiNG, and more importantly 556mm. Still can't find the one from TK7.

This was a good move since I thought the vocals on the original were pretty bad for him, this version is much less aggressive and sounds much better. Nothing will be better than Is It So/Leave Me In The Dark/China Gal for me though.

You are trolling so hard. uno/Roughsketch, D.watt, minami and ARM are all beasts. Their solo albums are outstanding and Roughsketch is already amazing with his original work and whatnot. Some of their remixes of IOSYS songs are meh but most of their actually serious work are good. They just make these pop albums all the time, but minami and uno get amazing solo albums from time to time. Even their singers are somewhat good, example Crystallized Ocean album.

It's why I feel a lot of vocal electronic albums end up paling in comparison to er... 'lighter' albums? The electronic albums seem to be where a lot of mediocre vocalists end up, I don't think there's been a single Alice's Emotion or Alstroemeria Records album I've gave more than 1 or 2 listens to in years because I end up feeling the average quality of the vocals to be below sub-par. While circles like Shibayan seem as if they're hoarding all the good vocalists.

Anyway, it does seem like there is an inordinate amount of bad vocalists in the Touhou doujin scene, but there's something to be said for a lack of bad arrangers as well. Take Sakue Nachi. I used to think she was totally shit until someone other than Minoshima used her.

Did anyone else have to "grow into" vocal music? Maybe it's because I wasn't aware of the different types of music, but I listened to instrumental-only music until I was about 15. Mostly chiptunes and OC remixes. Lyrics just didn't set well with me.

Here's what I did. I got the ISO for the original Touhou Sky Arena from DoujinStyle (only went there because I saw reference to their links being an ISO from elsewhere) and downloaded Kurenai from the poster above. I made sure I had all three 1.51 patches (Hayate, Kurenai, and Matsuri). Here's how it went down.

1) Set system locale to Japanese (Applocale didn't work for me in this process) and restart your computer.

2) Install the original Sky Arena and Kurenai. I personally got rid of the kanji in the folder path, but I don't know if this is 100% necessary.

3) Place the Hayate and Matsuri patches in the original game's folder and Kurenai's patch in Kurenai's folder (couldn't get them to run properly otherwise). Update them in the order of the Hayate patch, the Kurenai patch, and finally, the Matsuri patch.

4) Load the game (either one will work). If the loading screen has Matsuri next to the logo and has Reimu and Flandre on it, you're good to go.

In my opinion? It varies hugely, mostly based on what I feel at the moment. I LIKE the way the vocalist in The Cranberries, Tears for Fears, and Depeche Mode, EastNewSound isn't bad but I prefer the instrumentals.

Probably because most of the vocals in Alstroemeria Records albums are just below-average to just plain bad. After all those pretty sweet instrumental albums, it was a real downer.

But it's been a while since then, and better vocalists have appeared. Though there's still plenty of shitty ones that essentially break an otherwise decent arrangement.

I'd like to agree with you on this, but... Don't you think Iron Attack's gotten a bit stale? They've been churning the same stuff over and over and over and over again these past few releases. There's barely anything interesting going on lately, other than the typical feel when they arranged a song I like or when they parodied some famous artist's song. At this point I'd even say that Iron Chino's work with Eizo is more interesting.
