I just finally finished up Atelier Totori after having it for almost a year now. Still cracking away on Neptunia MK2 but if I work hard and enough and devote my free time from work towards it I can maybe beat it by the end of the weekend.

Really love the battle system in MK2. It's just really fun in some weird way.

Even though I'm just blowing through Totori for the other endings and the platinum trophy, I'm still anal as fuck about managing my time properly. I was never too pressured by all of that and I just played through it my first time by going with it. Usually games with time requirements bug the hell out of me but it felt well paced.

NISA gets lazier again. No art-booklet bundled with Meruru. Totori, Disgaea4 and Neptunia MK2 came with one. Kind of sad. Those booklets aren't anything special, but as a little bonus they are nice.

You could play Atelier Annie in a DS emulator I suppose, but the Arland series (Rorona, Totori, Meruru) is for the PS3.

Ar Tonelico is for the PS2 and 3, you could emulate the first two well enough but the third is on the PS3. Also you don't get to play the little girl in those, but you can romance one and it has VN elements.

Is Meruru substantially better than Rorona and Totori? I have both but never actually played them because I'm lazy and heard they weren't that good, but I've heard many nerds raving about Meruru being genuinely great. I have a thing for alchemy and have enjoyed GUST's take on it in some games, so as long as they're not very tedious I could get through the games.

Is anyone else experiencing crash with Ciel Nosurge? I finally started it back up today and I am experiencing a bunch of problems. I am aware it's full of small bugs here or there but this is a whole different issue entirely.

I'm already at my second year on Atelier Meruru, and when I think about it, Arls started out as a little kingdom of 100+ people. Does this mean Meruru herself is 'poor'? When I think about it, 100+ people can never sustain a town, and royalty cannot afford to be extravagant. Riches may not come hand in hand with the monarchy (sure you have the title 'princess' but hell your country is in the middle of nowhere).

I think I discovered a new moe -- the 'poor princess' moe. Praise me.

I had a crash just now, but only once, sometimes it freezes when you make an action and Ion is working on something, fixed by just pressing the PS button and returning. Also how does the comment board work, I keep seeing a 1 counter in it but it says there's nothing.

My crashes were much worse. Also, you kind of just explained it yourself. There is a tutorial about it as well in the game.

You know, Neptunia became one of the most popular series for NISA. It's popular. Easily more popular than Ar Tonelico.
It's not bad. The first one has a god-tier cast of characters and just great dialog. Gameplay isn't liked by most, but "worst ever" is just stupid. It's basic. The dungeons look like shit and always the same. But really, how were rpg's 20years ago? Nobody cared back then. And the characters are more than worth it. (Otherwise it wouldn't have sold so damn well)

I also like AT3, I'm actually someone who thinks it's a really good AT. But many think it's the worst AT, has shitty gameplay and so on. And its cast... it just can't get even somewhat close to Neptunia, but that's not exactly strange.

Then again, I'm a bit strange anyway. I also liked Ar Tonelico 3's gameplay. And I also had enough fun with Neptunia, although a big part of that was thanks to its characters I guess. The cast is in my opinion REALLY good.

There was a fair amount of hype leading up to the game due to it's premise. A lot of people were expecting it to be a self-aware parody of RPG stereotypes and full of game references.

What we got was a game with a horrible encounter rate, terrible visuals and a busted combat system. Not to mention overall it was just an overly unappealing game.

Still I know a lot of people online and off that bought it and I actually noticed that one of my friends on PSN was playing it a few weeks ago.

I think that DLC has been a mixed bag but I have always liked the way Gust and Nichi have handled it. The free starting DLC for Neptunia MK2 was really nice and I wish move developers would do stuff like this.

The music pack adds in music from the entire Atelier series. According to the NISA forums, totally worth getting as it features 5 vocal songs in addition to the plethora of BGM it adds to the game.
