What were the major periods of borrowing in Japan?

Doing an essay and notes never quite specify which periods are the major periods of borrowing from China (I assume?)

I'd assume it's the Heian period, and Medieval, but not too sure after that what would be considered MAJOR, so if anyone's able to give me osme insight, that'd be neat.

Not asking great detail, just where the hell I need to focus my attention and research on. (I have to pick one period)
