I don't go for grimdark. I go for realistic.
over 80% of youkai in real-life japan lore aren't cute.
Many youkai are dangerous monstrosities; vicious creatures.
I feel that the inhabitants of Gensokyo may be refined enough to wear frilly clothing and whatnot, but there still remains a patch of some "primal" entity that might slip out at any moment.

But no, nothing like koishi komeji's heart-throbbing adventure.
I even think komajou densetsu was a bit too grimdark to be taken seriously.

I prefer a Gensokyo that's mostly light, but where Character X shows signs of dark to start an incident that winds up being mostly light in the end.

So I guess moeblob Gensokyo would be closer to that...
