I really liked Silent Derper in Derp. It had plenty of conflict between characters, but even in that case, you knew everything would end up fine and dandy at the end.

Plus, the official printworks are some of the few cases where I see Touhous being taken seriously as characters.

I suspect they were originally nothing more than an explanation for Kaguya, but having yukari create and purposely loose a war to prevent further needless combat/the clenching of Gensyoko was a good addition, and gave them a more legit reason to be around.

And yeah, they're kinda meant to be assholes, although you could say it's just cultural differences.

I can see this turning into a full scale war as the Moriyas (or someone else) break the shimenawa, releasing the god (which happens to be a cute girl), which in turn makes Tewi know about what the Lunarians did with Daikoku, forcing Eirin, Kaguya and Reisen to retreat back to the moon, leading the moonbitches and the rest of the lunarians to seek revenge against Gensokyo.

I always wondered what Tewi would do if she found out that the Lunarians sealed her BFF. Tewi's pretty laid back, but the rabbits practically worship the guy.
