"Please respond" is a /v/ meme, which has been spammed by shitposters. That then developed into the "0 replies" image macro and other shitposters encourage each other with "keep up the good work", which they consider to be some kind of meta-trolling.

"Jimmies", "Le monkey face" and Sadfrog are also /v/ memes posted by shitposters.

This is purposefully thinly veiled trolling which is supposed to 1. be funny and 2. spread misinformation to newbies who then go on to unwittingly become shitposters themselves by spreading the misinformation.

The word itself is overused. It's was coined here as far as I am aware, and then /v/ adopted it, and then those people who hate fun moved to /vg/ and now that word is probably in the top 50 words you'll see. It's hard to not use the word too, because we see it so much and it could apply to pretty much anything you don't like. That's why I'm trying my best to get out of the habbit of using it so much.

By now they have grown beyond the Steam group alone and a lot of them might just think it's the normal state for /jp/.

You can find the word used way too much. For example, if you go to /vg/ to discuss Tera, anyone who posts any criticism or "trolling" will be dismissed with "Ignore him, he's a shitposter". When you become aware of this the word sticks out even more. Same thing with GW2 threads. Anyone who posts something from Reddit or Tera or Bioshit will get called a shitposter. It feels like it's the next "troll". I honestly wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to spread it on Facebook and Reddit and make up face masks to go along with it.
