Well I'm talking more in the perspective of you being the player, the constant. Sort of like breaking the fourth wall, I guess. Besides, the items get carried down from generation to generation; all that dramatically changes between the individual characters is the spells and certain stats. When you think about it, you are pretty much still the same person.
