How did /jp/ get to be the way it is?

>> No.8991299

Lack of moderation, loosely defined rules, and a migratory userbase.

Oh, and the other boards hated /jp/ particularly, which made it a bigger target for raids back before they simply moved in permanently.

>> No.8991304

Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they're in good company.

>> No.8991305

sheer neglect

>> No.8991309

Personally I think /jp/ is rather enjoyable at the moment.

It is not as bad as it was a few hours ago, but it's still bad. We could do better.

You don't know SHIT about the good old days.

>> No.8991320

because there haven't been 10 janitor hate threads on the frontpage yet. Did I lmiss it ?

It was much worse before. We would lose 14 pages of spam or sometimes the whole board. If you think the front page being filled with shitposters talking shit is a bad thing, you should feel lucky for not being on 2010 or 2009.

Refer to pic.

/jp/ was literally created as a dumping ground for the random stuff on /a/ only vaguely /a/ related; that is, Touhou, VNs, eroge, JRPGs... but mainly Touhou. Overwhelmingly so, indeed. Trying to find a non-Touhou thread on the front page of /jp/ is like trying to find a non-porn thread on /b/ - impossible and pointless.

>> No.8991348

once the retards from Finland moved in, everybody that actually cared left and most just gave up on this place being their home. Its funny when all the retards spam how they hate the janitor, when its them fucking everything up and turning this place into /b/ everyday. we use to actually care about this place, now its just a trash bin. I will say that it got a lot better though thanks to the new janitor.he could do better and just wipe the random thread all out and just leave the core vn,figure, and touhou, and dojin threads like meido did.

>>8991338
Some of the better chans out there handled "otaku" shit rather well. Instead of just making a huge catchall board, you'd have a touhou board which ends up full of imagedumps and stupid questions, usually a VN/doujinshi board, and then a weeaboo version of toy for all the physical goods.

You mean late 2010 and 2011 which was the fucking worse thing i ever saw and become know as the start pf /jp/ hell, we still have no idea were those fucking monsters even came from. they just appeared out of nowhere a couple of days/weeks once meido died.. It was a fucking nightmare, we even started to get raided by them in groups. Thank god thats over with. I think im the only one here now that actually remembers /jp/ history. Nobody ever recorded it so most new people have no clue what old /jp/ stood for.

I actually enjoy the tea threads, and the occasional mmo threads.

Some of the older /jp/ers should get together and write a history of /jp/. You could all pretend to be 2hus writing PMiSS.

Well i kinda gave up on /jp/ and went to /m/ but came back after i noticed we got everything some what under control with the new janitor. It seems what ever was left of the decent userbase is at least still here or came back just like me when the retarded shit and raids stopped. Its sad that most of our tripfag family is gone though (not the members of the raiding or the random steam members, i mean our original tripfags like boof, arc, white ren, sugin, etc) Well with the mess and confusion that was going on it was bound to happen.

Maybe i will, it will also help people remember our pride of being a part of this board and this board with get its respect make, we might get another golden age like 2009. Ill work on it over the summer from what i know and other people can add on to it.

>> No.8991434

I just recently came back to /jp/ and it actually seems quite a bit less shitty than when I left it.

So props to all of you who stayed with it

>> No.8991455

>>8991434
yeah it has improve quite a lot because the janitor is protecting us, even right now its not fully protected. There are rare times when the shitposters randomly come back but they cant do as much because our janitor is pretty good. Some of the infected /jp/ers who got brainwashed by the retards are still here as you can see but they pose little threat to our general idea of how /jp/ should act and dont have as much of an impact as the shitposting monsters did. just think of them as zombies who are still roaming around, sooner or later they will die out also and the 2 year shitposting brainwash of hell will be a thing of the past.

>> No.8991573

I'm just going to assume you're acting this way on purpose.

>> No.8994567

I-is /jp/ really not for shitposting??

The problem isnt shitposting.
It is newfags idiot.
Just look at the thread above. How the 2newfags complaining about shitposting not notice the joke is beyond me. The problem with /jp/ are people not being able to distinguish serious and joke replies.

Do you really think people would have thought you meant /jp/ was figuratively created as a dumping ground for the random stuff on /a/ only vaguely /a/ related if you didn't include that?

You might be the same poster who puts "literally" in nearly everything for no real reason.

I sometimes don’t understand if a post was sarcastic or not, I usually ask for clarification then.
