How do you go from "White Rabbit" to "Annoying rabbit"?

I am starting to think the game translations are completely unreliable.

IN's translation is GG quality. The "Bitch get outta the way" is pretty much just "You're in my way. Move it!"

It even messed up the ghost ending line where Eirin reveals that she used the hourai elixir.

"ふん" is not "shit", more like "hmph".
餓鬼 "gaki" is still very insulting, or at least I think it is.
Maybe he used it just because it has 鬼 "oni" kanji in it.

Also, "bitch, get out of the way" never happened.

This changes everything. How does one fix these obvious errors then? Any tools one can use?

Are people afraid to update these patches or something? Like out of respect for the original translators or whatever? Even the Touhou Wiki has better translations (though I think "we'll tear off your skin" kind of misses the point a little).

Why is it that even with the insanely dedicated fan base, none of the games are well translated? Surely out of the 10 godzillion fans, 1 of them can do it correctly.

I play the games in Japanese and have the wiki open on another monitor. Not too uncomfortable. Plus you eventually memorize the dialogue anyway.
Maybe if I play it enough, I'll learn Japanese without having to do my reps!

They've gotten better. I just think nobody wants to go back and "re-do" a project that has been finished.

There are some hackers on /jp/, right? Why not make your own patches for the integer Window games using the Wiki translations? Most of the actual work would be in figuring out how the executables work or writing tools, and some of it might have been done for you already.
