Im in Benny Lava with the normalfags, actually having a good time. The people are normalfags, but also not huge douchebags either. They're as dedicated to this game as I am, which is why I wasn't joining up with TFT. I'll probably have an alt in TFT later on to hang out with them once my Berzerker is 60. From what I've read the EU /a/ guild is a lot more tolerable than the NA guild. Literally every TFT chat I've seen involved RPing, calling one another "onee-san" and ~ behind every sentence. Though I've not seen much of the EU guild, their steam profile requirements list makes it seem like they're not as bad.

I tried it again since it was still free. That starting area is just so bad dude, and then you're greeted with the linear as balls Lumbertown/Arcadia. It's like the game double combo kicking you in the balls; I couldn't make it through those again. The usual WoW quests and FEZ mmo combat we've already played before in these Korean games doesn't help either.

But to be honest I'll probably play it unironically when it goes free to play in 6 months. I liked fapping to the girls. But no way is it worth $50 + the $15 subscription or whatever they're asking. Also I heard GW2 ending up being not so good either in the end?

Don't have too high expectations for any /jp/ guild. I played with a bunch of /jp/ers for NA CBT4 and we made a guild together, but we never managed to go beyond 7 people total, no one bothered playing beyond level 21 and everyone were too autistic to talk when playing together. I'm torn about GW2.

The dynamic quests make things awesome, and you never worry about turning quests in. The enviroments, though the graphics aren't TERA level, are still stunning in their vastness and feel.

But they took out my favorite thing about GW: making you're own unique character. Now we're locked into predetermined sets of skills based on your weapon. The controls are responsive, but they're and hard to position nicely; there's just too much to press. Dodging doesn't feel as important as it should, as well.

Nope. Go to the /vg/ GW2 threads and take a look at the screenshots. It's at least an 8.5/10 game, worst case scenario if you dislike some of the major mechanics, etc. The servers were DDoSed by the amount of people trying to get in, and it was very laggy on Friday. It became a lot better the next day. All in all it's a 9/10 game for me, but it would be 10/10 if they (and they probably will) change certain features around to allow more diversity in skill setups.

After playing the game for a couple weeks, it just ended up feeling like WoW (read: "every MMO") but with an aiming cursor.

Tera with Lancer: WoW with an aiming cursor.
Tera without Lancer: Quite fun, and while not really close to being Monster Hunter Online, it's a lot closer than with Lancers in play, and its damn fun.

Unfortunately so few players agree with my desire to exclude Lancers from groups in order to avoid the simplistic and boring play. The game is really quite fun when there is no Lancer, and that's even sadder because Lancers are actually very fun to play, even if Lancers ruin the game. If Lancers were completely removed from the game I would have bought it.

I don't mind warrior tanks, some of my best instance runs have been with a warrior tank, but I hate how they move and turn the mob around so much. Plus the warrior has to really know what they're doing. When dungeons start getting harder you'll really need a lancer.

What makes GW2 is the quest system and PvP. Those two things are enough to make it worth playing even though it has very restrictive mechanics and awkward controls.

/vg/ raves about it, but they don't have taste in games. You can tell how mature and level headed they are by all their green text and spamming of the same message several times in the same post. In GW you can guest over to anyone's server to play with them as well as scale down to their level. The only thing you can't do on another server is World vs World.
